Chapter twenty

23rd of June 2016

Later that day:

We are all hanging around the pool, relaxing and listening to the music on the radio.

Usually I work during my birthday but Jared had forbidden it because of me being pregnant. So I had to tell everyone that I didn't want to work like it was my idea.

Sam is running and playing, squirting water from water guns with Jared chasing him and all with only his nappy on.

It is quite entertaining to watch.

I think everyone has begun noticing Jared spending more time with Sam, especially Carry, Chase and mom. And dad has been looking between Jared and me a lot but I don't mind if he has figured it out, we are planning to tell everyone tonight anyway.

My hands are resting on my belly as I watch my two favourite boys play together.

Sam is very smart because when he realizes Jared is going to catch him he fakes tripping over. Jared picks him up to soothe his fake crying only to be sprayed in the face by the water gun and have him running away again.

Jared doesn't seem to mind though, in fact he hasn't stopped grinning since Sam ran up to him and gave him a big hug.

That definitely made his day.

Mom sits down beside me but she seems hesitant so I know she needs to tell me something.

So I turn my body to face her but by the glazed look in her eyes, it might not be good news.

"Your father knows about you and Jared." She rushes out in a breath.

Oh is that all?

"Yeah, that's okay. We were planning on telling everyone else tonight anyway." I shrug and her shoulders slump in relief.

She must have really been worrying about it.

"Good. It's just, he almost walked into Jared's last night and I didn't think you two would be in a very good position. But I didn't tell him he's Sam's father, I thought you'd want to tell him yourself." She adds sweetly.

I smile and sit up to give her a tight hug.

I have been hugged so many times today I have started handing them out to everyone as well.

"I love you mom."

When I pull back she is giving me this strange look like with those few words she has figured something about me has changed.

"What's changed?" She demands narrowing her eyes as if that will help her get a better view of me.

I give her a secretive grin because even though I haven't been hiding it, no one has noticed the ring on my finger.

"I've got two big things to tell everyone but that can wait until another time." I say trying not to give anything away.

Her eyes narrow further until her eyes widen in realization.

She couldn't have already figured it out, or could she?

"I swear to god if you move away I will never forgive you." She warns angrily.

I laugh and pull her into another hug.

"It isn't anything like that I promise." I assure her.

From behind her, I see Jared carry Sam into my cabin so I jump up and rush to them promising to talk to her later.
