-Amy's Pov-
I sat by Simon at the mall, holding an ice pack close to his black eye, after Faith and Josh ran off.
"I still don't understand why he punched me." Simon whispered, in disbelief.
I rolled my eyes. "Really?"
"What?" He asked, being serious. "I was just telling the truth."
"If I was Josh, I would want to make my fingers as hot as lava then scratch you in the face and make him bleed."
"Damn." He muttered. "At least your being honest."
I removed part of the ice to see his face clearer. "Sometimes, things aren't picture perfect. Josh isn't. Neither are you."
"What is that suppose to mean?" He asked, somewhat hurt.
"Well your not exactly second class." I commented. "You bullied Faith, and she has been through a really tough time at a really tough age. My parents won't even let me know what happened."
"Well, none of that would have happened if Josh didn't turn me into this monster."
I put my hand on his arm, reassuringly. "Your not a monster."
"Yes I am." He whispered, looking away from my eyes. "I don't want people to get to close. The darkness inside is too much for me." He mumbled.
I tilted his face so I could see his dark blue eyes. "That is when you find someone that will be the light. Brighten the darkest of rooms. You just need to let people get close enough to fix it."
He looked straight into my eyes, and the dark navy actually lightened up. "But who?"
My heart slightly hurt, since he didn't know that I am the one for him. "You never know. They could be the one closest to you."
He nodded. "Thank you Amy."
I sighed. "No problem." I paused, soaking in the moment. "I am always here if you need me."
-Faith's Pov-
Josh picked me up from the stream, revealing the mud covering the entire back of all my clothing, and his as well.
"Well, this is just great." I heard him said, trying to wipe it all away.
I grabbed his hand. "It is alright. I am sure we can find you a new pair of clothes in Amy's house."
He hesitated. "I don't know. I don't want to seem needy to them, and I hate to take anyone's stuff, even if they offer it to me."
"You'll be fine Josh." I reassured him. "Now come on."
I extended my hand out for Josh to grab, which he did, and I lead him the way.
He walked up the hill, me nearly carrying him up. "You know I have no muscle." I told him.
"It is nice seeing you try." He joked, and started to walk up on his own.
"Thank you." I said, relieved.
I made it to the door, but the only living thing in the the house was Amy's dog.
I kept ringing the doorbell, repeatedly, hoping someone would answer, but there was no luck.
In frustration, I hit the door, and groaned. "Just my luck."
Josh sighed. "Is there a spare key?" He asked.
"I don't know. I haven't lived in this house long enough to know."
Josh stepped in front of me, lightly nudging me to the side so I wasn't standing on the welcome mat.
