I stared at him, thinking. How do you know my name?
My lips moved as I realized I was speaking. I had just said those words out loud. "Well..." a voice said, waking me up from my daze. "I heard about you around school. Rumors say you were in the hospital. Do you mind telling me why?" Jackson continued. I just gave him a weird look.
"Um, unless you don't want to... " he said. "No, it's not, well... I mean, we just met, so.." awkward.
"Well then, let's get to know each other! Do you mind hanging out?" my eyes widened. He wanted to hang out with me? A sweet, handsome guy wanted to hang out with a messed up, awkward girl? What is this? A fairy tale?
"Um.. s-sure." I managed to say. "When?" "Let's start now!" He grabbed my hand and took me over to his locker, where we sat down on the floor. I looked at him and he started to look familiar. "Hey, don't I have you in some classes? Math and Physics, right? " I asked. "Yeah, actually. Hmm... We already have a few things in common." Jackson replied. I blushed. I actually felt like a normal teen again. This boy.
20 minutes have passed and we were still talking. So far we found out simple things about each other. Like full names, favorite foods, movies, colors, birthdays, things like that. Until, the bell rang. I totally forgot we were even in school. I kind of got upset because I was having such a great time, but I then grew a smile again because I realized my first period was math. Yes! Wait... Is it possible I actually might have a crush on this guy? Come on Alexa, you just met him! I told myself.
Me and Jackson walked to class and sat down next to each other. All of a sudden I heard a whisper in my ear. "Ooh, I see you already have a boyfriend and didn't tell me! " she giggled. I turned around and realized it was Chelsea, one of my best friends. (Oh come on, you didn't think Jackson was my only friend, did you?)
A huge grin spread across my face as I got up to hug her. "Hey! What's up?" She said, hugging me back. "Nothing just hanging out with my boy... I MEAN..." She raised an eyebrow. "NO, ITS NOT LIKE THAT! He's not my boyfriend!" I whispered to her, hoping Jackson wouldn't hear. Luckily he was on his phone. "Riiight... " she evily grinned. Just as I was about to explain, our teacher, Mr. Gander, clapped his hands, ordering us to be seated. Chelsea immediately sat down in the seat next to me, along with the other students, and Mr. Gander started his lesson.
Hours have passed while classes got even boringer, but, finally, the best part of the day came. Lunch!
I introduced Chelsea to Jackson and they both were shy around each other, but I knew that wouldn't last long. Jackson had to run ahead to catch up with some of his friends and promised me he'll meet up with me after 20 minutes to hang.
~20 mins later~
I looked at the clock and Jackson still wasn't here like he promised. I got angry. "Ugh, where is he? " I pouted.
"Oh calm down drama queen, he'll show up. Unless you wanna head over to his locker. He might be there." Chelsea comforted me. She's another person who kept me sane. My other friends were around the table, still concerned of why I was in the hospital, but I decided to keep it a secret from everyone until I was ready.
