It was almost time for the dinner party and I felt butterflies in my stomach. Not because I was necessarily nervous to go to the party but because I felt nervous for Noel to see me in the dress. It was almost a happy nervous though.
"Hey, you need any help to get ready?" Monica said from outside my bedroom door peeking her head in.
"Yeah come in." I really did need help the furthest I got was putting on my dress. My mom had always helped me get ready. I felt tears well up in my eyes and I quickly brushed them away when Monica walked in.
"You okay?" she asked noticing I was upset.
"Yes, I'm good, I just don't know how to do my hair or make-up, properly at least," I laughed it off.
"Well if that's what you're worried about then worry no further because I am here to help you." she smiled widely and patted the chair in front of my vanity for me to sit.
I laughed again my mood lifting a bit as I sat down in the chair.
An agonizing 2 hours later of being poked and prodded and almost getting my hair yanked out of my skull I was finally 'all glammed up' as Monica would say.
"You look H-O-T!" she exclaimed clapping her hands together excitingly looking at me.
I smiled waving it off then looked at her in the mirror, "I'm not going to lie, I'm a bit nervous."
"Oh honey, don't be, plus I'll be there," she said rubbing my back in soothing circles.
My eyebrows furrowed together, "you're going?"
"Of course, our whole pack is going, well most of it, I don't think you can fit 1000 people in a place no matter how big it is," I zoned out as she continued to rant.
My stomach dropped a bit, I was dumb to think it was just going to be me and him going to this event.
"S?" She questioned, my head snapped up to look at her. No one has called me that since I last talked to Val. All of a sudden felt very emotional. I missed my family and friends. I wondered if Val knew about me and my special abilities, I looked up at Monica and wondered if I could trust her with such a huge secret.
"What's wrong?" She asked worriedly, "please don't cry, seriously, I spent hours perfecting that make-up look."
"I know I'm fine," I smiled trying to pull myself together dabbing the corners of my eyes with Kleenex.
Just when I was going to tell her or at least hint at it, Noel walked in looking perfect as he did. I swallowed hard to keep from overheating. How could one person be so perfect?
"Wow," he paused in the doorway, raking his eyes over my body. I looked down at the ground and blushed.
"You clean up well Alpha," Monica said walking towards the door, " now if you will excuse me, I will see you at the party."
I let out a breath and stood up in front of Noel pulling the dress down slightly.
"You look beautiful," he whispered leaning in towards me.
"Not too bad yourself," I said smiling widely.
"Ready to go? I want to get there first to introduce you to... them," he rushes out, clearly uncomfortable about the topic.
"Them?" I raised my eyebrow.
"We should go, don't want to be late," he grabbed my arm briskly and rushed me out of the room and down the hall.
"What is going on?" I asked, touching his arm stopping him while he tried to put on my shoes.
"Nothing I just love dinner parties." He said in a higher voice than usual.
