Noel's POV

I quietly pushed the covers off me and placing them back on the bed as I got up, making sure not to wake Serena.

I swung my legs over the bed and stepped toward the door. I heard a groan and I froze in place, slowly turning to reveal a still sleeping Serena. I let out a breath of relief, she needed to sleep.

I quietly opened the door and stepped outside, turning the handle and slowly closing the door behind me, releasing the handle.

I turned to go down the stairs and I was immediately greeted and bombarded by Monica spouting millions of questions out at me.

"Shh!" I grabbed her arm and pulled her into the next room, "she's sleeping."

"Oh," she went into a whisper, "how is she?"

"She's doing better, still a little shaken up," I sighed, "as to be expected"

"Yeah I bet," she crossed her arms over her chest angrily. Monica felt even more guilty than I had about the situation, I couldn't prevent it but, she had slept with the enemy.

"We need to put a stop to this," I growled, "she doesn't deserve this."

" I know, it's going too far," she said in an angry voice, " I'm not sure what we can do, hunters have been around for ages, never seeming to go away."

I  stressfully ran my fingers through my hair.

"I don't know," I sighed, "I'm the Alpha and I can barely keep her safe."

"You're doing the best you can Noel, no one blames you, these situations are out of everyone's control." She smiled lightly, placing a comforting hand on my arm.

I appreciated that she's trying to make me feel better, but I should be able to keep her safe. I hated that I couldn't do anything to prevent this.

"How's Hayden?" I asked changing the subject.

"He's doing better, he's a little more... here," her voice cracked and she looked down.

"Hey, he's going to be okay," I reassured. Hayden was strong and he would pull through this.

She nodded and brushed away some tears that were ready to spill out.

"I should probably go check on him, I'll talk to you later?" She said, her voice soft and sad.

"Take care, Mon," I forced a smile despite how we both were feeling.

She smiled back and then was gone.

I sighed and walked back out into the hallway.

Bret, where are you I needed an update and I want to know all I missed I mind- linked him making my way to my office. Bret was stepping in for Hayden while he was recovering.

On my way.

He was already there when I got there.

"Okay, the vampires want to have a meeting discussing their terms about land, and then Matthew's parents are demanding a meeting also." He rushed out.

"Slow down." I sat down in my leather chair, "first things first, tell the vampires that I can't deal with them now."

"Okay," he scribbled it down on a tiny notebook that he kept in his pocket.

"And I will have a meeting with Matthews parents, under my terms." I snapped angrily. I didn't want to meet with them, but I had to put my personal feelings aside and put my Alpha duties first right now.
