[02] Warmth

I shouldn't have encountered this Jeon Jungkook. I'd only bring him bad luck.

The next day of school, I expected it to be the same. My desk would be covered in Sharpie and my locker would be trashed up.

I opened the class door.
Jungkook.
He was wiping the Sharpie off my desk again.
"Jungkook.. please, don't help me anymore.."
He turned around.
"Why? Can't I help a friend in need?", he said, smiling softly.

I just took a seat and class began.
I had to give him the silent treatment.
I can't be his friend, it'll hurt him.

Lunch came, and Jiyoung, the popular girl, walked up to me.
"Nana! You've been lonely nowadays, wanna have lunch together?", she said.
I could see her through her smile. It was fake.
"Sure.", was all I said.
"Okay! Meet me at benches outside!", she said, walking off to her other friends, or I should say, my haters.

I skipped buying my food and walked to the benches outside.
"Huh? Nana, aren't you hungry?", Jiyoung said.
I shook my head, and she let out a small grin.
Her gang walked out from the school and surrounded me.
"Yah! Nana! What's wrong with you? Taking away our Jungkook.", the girls hollered.
"Um. I didn't take him away and what are you? His mom? I don't think so."
"How dare you talk back to us!"
One of the girls slapped me.
Another pulled my hair.
I didn't care, I just wanted to leave this world, it's so cruel.

"Hey! What are you doing with my friend?!", a guy yelled.
It was Jungkook.
He came running towards the gang of girls and BANG!
He. slapped.  Jiyoung.
"Don't you dare go near her or me!"
I could see anger in his eyes. Why?
One by one, they ran back to class.

"Oi, Nana, are you alright?", Jungkook said as he lifted me up in bridal style.
"Why? Why did you save me?"
"Why? Can't I help a friend in need?", he replied, with that same soft smile.

"W-we shouldn't be friends."
"Anniya [no], I'm going to stay as your friend Nana. I'm going to protect you."

Protect me? I didn't know how to respond. He was the first to say that to me. My heart began to flutter.

I guess it wasn't so bad to have a friend like him.
