Dan and I were hanging out under the bleachers as the first task was taking place. Battling dragons? Psh. But when we heard that Harry was battling the most dangerous dragon that's when we thought maybe we should go and watch.

As Harry kept escaping the dragon and casting spells, Dan and I saw Elsa with the Hufflepuffs on the other bleachers. Her hands were covering her mouth and she looked terrified. We had gotten pretty close to the Boy Who Lived in the past month or so (he wasn't as rude as I thought he'd be about being friends with Slytherins--that Weasley was though).

And that was when it really hit me. Harry could actually die in the Tournament.

When he got the golden egg, I let out a sigh of relief.

"He made it," I breathed.

"He's Harry Potter, he defeated Voldemort before he could walk. A dragon isn't going to stop him." Dan smirked.

"He isn't indestructable, Dan."

When everyone entered the school, I immediately went searching for Harry.

I saw him and Elsa in the entrance to the castle.

"You're alive!" Elsa hugged Harry, and I approached them.

"Potter, don't do anything stupid and get yourself killed," I told him, playfully punching his arm. "We all need you here."

"Thanks, Jamie." Harry laughed a bit.

"Harry, mate! That was quite a show!" Dan came and clapped Harry on the back. The Boy Who Lived laughed, but I noticed it was shaky and flat.

"Thanks, Dan," he replied.

"You should eat something," Elsa suggested.

"Yeah, I'll change first," Harry nodded, and walked off.

Draco came, and said, "I have to say, that was actually interesting to watch."

"Draco, how long were you watching us for?" Elsa raised an eyebrow.

"Long enough to see you hug Potter," Draco told her, his voice tightening.

"Guys, I'm hungry. Let's get food," I cut in, trying to avoid Draco's sudden mood swing. Honestly sometimes he acts like a pregnant lady.

"Since when are you not hungry?" Phil teased.

"Since before I got hungry. Let's go," I retorted.

Dan and I were in the back of the Transfiguration class as McGonagall told us about the Yule Ball.

"So, Dan--gonna ask Phil?" I asked him quietly (so no one else could hear) with a smirk.

Dan's face went pink but he played it off cool.

"Yeah, probably. What about you and Zabini?" he teased back.

"Zabini Blaise? As if." I rolled my eyes.

"Potter won't get a date."

Dan and I looked up and saw Draco smirking.

"Shut up, Malfoy. Potter is actually a nice person you know," I said.

"Nice?" Draco wrinkled his nose.

"Yeah, nice. N-I-C-E," I spelled out.

"Whatever. So--" Draco lowered his voice and made sure no one else could hear, "--gonna ask Phil out?"

Dan turned pink again, and replied with, "Of course."

"He's blushing," I told Draco, making sure Dan could hear.

"Am not! Shut up," Dan muttered.

"Draco, you gonna go with Pug-Face Pansy?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Who else would I go with?" Draco rolled his eyes.

"I don't know, anything other than that horrid creature I would hope," Dan said.

"Excuse me, Slytherins in the back, please," McGonagall cut us off. "Please do be quiet so everyone else can hear what is obviously uninteresting to you."

A bunch of kids snickered. I rolled my eyes and kicked my feet up on the desk, snapping loudly on my gum.

"Merlin, Jamie." Dan shoved me playfully.

"You're almost as bad as me and Ron." Harry's voice chuckled. I looked up to see him sat next to me.

"When'd you get here?" I asked.

"About five seconds ago. Ron fell asleep."

I snorted. "Whiny Weasley strikes again."

Harry shoved me. "He's just a little precautious."

"More like pretentious."

Harry gave me a look.

"Sorry, sorry," I muttered. "So who do you wanna go to the Ball with? You know you have to have a partner, right?"

"What?"

"For the Ball. You have to have a dancing partner. The Champions always open the Ball with first dance."

"I don't dance."

"You do now."

Harry was beet red. "Well, then who do I ask?"

I glanced back at Draco, who was talking to Zabini and trying not to fall asleep.

"Elsa needs a date."

Harry's eyes widened. "I thought she was going with Neville?"

I gagged on my spit. "Ew, no. They'd never go together. They're just friends."

"... what about Draco?"

I sighed. "He's... going with Pug-Face."

"Pansy?"

"Yep."

"I don't see why he won't just be himself."

"He's terrified, Harry," I told him. Dan had looked over, listening to the conversation. "If his father finds out about his true beliefs, he's dead."

Harry frowned. "That's sad."

"I know." I bit my lip, running a hand through my hair. "But I can only do so much."

"You don't have to do everything, Jamie," Dan interjected. I looked at him.

"I know, but Draco needs someone he can really trust, and right now, I'm really all he's got."
