I glanced across the room. The Champions were just about to go up to dance. I could see the fear in Harry's eyes and the anxiety in Elsa's. They had practised dancing but neither of them were very good to be quite honest.

I knew Neville was scared out of his mind. I couldn't blame him. He was just the nervous type. I used to be, until--

"Oh Merlin, I'm so sorry!"

Pansy's dramatic voice snapped me out of my thoughts and suddenly I realised she had spilled fruit punch all over me.

"Parkinson!" Draco yelled. I was still in shock.

"Oh, I didn't mean it!" Pansy played innocent.

"Like hell you didn't!" Dan shouted.

"Jamie?" Neville put his hand on my arm. Suddenly, I came back to my senses.

I lashed out at Pansy, grabbing her by the front of her dress, the tip of my wand right under her chin.

People gasped. Someone's voice yelled my name, but I didn't register who.

"I could kill you," I snarled. "Right here, right now. One spell and poof. The end of the Parkinson bloodline. No hesitation. No regrets. No. Going. Back."

Pansy's eyes were wide with fear--terror.

McGonagall looked ready to jump in and pull us apart by the hair, but Dumbledore kept her back.

"Jamie." Dan's voice was firm, not wavering at all. It calmed me down a little, but not much.

"And you don't want that, now do you?" I said lowly. Pansy shook her head frantically. "No, I didn't think so."

I released my grip on Pansy. She gasped and backed up quickly.

"You don't even have the guts to do it!" she taunted. What the hell is wrong with her?

I raised my wand once more. "Wanna risk it?"

Pansy yelped and ran off.

"Didn't think so," I muttered.

After what felt like hours later, the Ball continued according to schedule. The Champions danced, and soon enough, everyone except Draco, Jamie, Neville, Phil and I were (and Weasley, but he's irrelevant).

Jamie was still radiating anger. I couldn't blame her. Neville had his arms around her. It seemed as though this whole incident had actually made him less nervous and more confident.

Phil put his hand on my shoulder, smirking. "May I have this dance?"

I realised what song was playing.

"Toxic" by Britney Spears.

"You're on." I stood up, grabbing his hands and dragging him onto the dance floor. He laughed. Ever since this last summer, "Toxic" has basically been our anthem.

Phil and I danced like the weirdos we were to the song. People stared and we didn't give a shit. Jamie, Neville, Elsa, Harry and Draco cheered us on. Since pretty much only the Muggle-borns and Phil knew this song, they were the only ones really into it. But it was awesome.

When the song ended, it was replaced by one I didn't recognise, but Jamie and a few others obviously did.

"THIS IS MY JAM!" Jamie yelled, grabbing Neville's arm and yanking him out of his seat. He laughed.
