The Next Day
School
My mind has been going lately but I feel like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. I really appreciate Arielle for flying my parents out here and protecting me. I cant help but to think that drama follows me everywhere that I go. I was at my locker when Easton came up to me.
Easton-Hey Elaina
Me-Hey Easton. What's up?
Easton-Lets go out today after school
I don't know about this. But it could be good to go out, relax, and get my mind off of everything. My mom is in the hospital and I think going out wouldn't kill anybody.
Me-You know what, yea.
Easton-Really? Cool. So I'll meet you at your locker then
Me-Sounds good.
Easton-Cool (smiles) Cool (walks away)
He seems happy.
Melanie-(walks over) What was that girl?
Me-Nothing Mel
Melanie-Mmmhm. So what are you doing today?
Me-After school I'm probably going to go food shopping, go out with Easton, go visit my mom, or do some homework
Melanie-Wait wait. What did you just say?
Me-Do some homework
Melanie-No before that
Me-Visit my mom
Melanie-Before that
Me-Go food shopping
Melanie-After that
Me-Go out with Easton
Melanie-Bingo!
Me-What's the problem with that?
Melanie-Oh nothing. I just didn't know if I heard you right.
Me-But anyway, have you heard from August
Melanie-He isn't here today.
Me-Oh. I have to call him later to make sure hes okay
Melanie-That's should be good. But tell mom I said hi.
Me-I will
Melanie-Maybe I should come there with you
Me-No Mel. Its fine. I don't need you giving her a heart attack
Melanie-I would never
Me-Mel
Melanie-Fine. But when she comes home, I'll be there
Me-(laughs) Okay Mel.
After School
Park
Easton and I are having a good time. I haven't smiled this much in a while. We were standing by the pond and I was skipping rocks.
Easton-So Elaina
Me-Yea (skips rock)
Easton-We've been friends for a while and we've been out a lot more lately
Me-Uh huh (skips rock)
Easton-I was wondering...Will you be my girlfriend?
Me-I don't know about that Easton
Easton-I understand. I just really like you
It was silent for a while.
Me-Yes.
Easton-Huh?
Me-Yes I'll be your girlfriend.
Easton-Oh wow.
Later
Hospital
I was visiting my mom and she'll be coming home tomorrow. They want to make sure that everything is okay with her before she goes home. I was sitting with her watching tv and talking.
Mom-How is August?
Me-I'm not sure, I haven't spoken to him in a couple days
Mom-Oh why
Me-Not sure. Hes been acting weird ever since Easton started talking to me.
Mom-And who is Easton?
Me-My boyfriend
Mom-Oh okay. I would've thought that you and August would be together by now
Me-Really?
Mom-Elaina its obvious. Stop playing with me.
Me-If you say so. I just don't see it.
Mom-Oh okay Elaina (rolls eyes)
The Next Day
School
I was standing in the hallway and I saw August.
Me-August! August!
August-(keeps walking)
Me-August!
August-(turns around) Whats up?
Me-Whats been going on? I didn't see you yesterday?
August-Family stuff... But I heard you're dating Easton now.
Me-Word gets around quickly I guess.
August-Well I'm happy for you
Me-Are you sure
August-Yea (smiles) You're still my babygirl
Me-Okay making sure. So you're cool with me dating Easton?
August-Yea as long as he doesn't hurt you, I'm good.
Me-Thanks Aug
Melanie's POV
After School
Me- Where's Elaina?
Bella-With Easton
Me-Oh okay. It seems like they are happy
Mercedes-It does. If she like it, I love it
Bella-It look like it hurt August when she talked to him
Me-Yea. I mean we all know August has feelings for Elaina. Its just obvious
Arielle-But not obvious to Elaina and August
Me-True. True.
Arielle-I don't have a good feeling about Easton though
Mercedes-I was thinking the same thing
Me-I don't know what it is
Bella-They seem happy though. I would just keep a mindful watch over him.
Mercedes-We'll see you guys later. Lets go Bell (walks away)
Bella-Later chicas (walks away)
Me-What are we going to do?
Arielle-There is nothing we can do until something happens. We cant jump to conclusions about it, its going to make her resent us
Me-I just want her to be happy
Arielle-I know you do Mel. But its time for her to spread her wings and learn for herself.
