"Look who finally decided to show up" Daisy sang as she toss some of her short red hair out of her face to put her black masquerade mask on.
"Two minutes is not a big deal" I complained before joining her at the mirror after getting changed.
I worked at 'The Silver Dish Café' in Warlington, two cities over from home. Its 1950's theme made it really stand out from the other places; the owner is a bit eccentric because he makes us wear weird masquerade masks. It doesn't bother me though because it stops someone from being able to recognise me from school and thankfully we don't have to roll around on skates.
"You're only ever late on busy days, you can't keep pushing the work on the rest of us" she argued.
"Daisy relax, Lailah has to get here using public transport and it isn't always reliable" The manager stated as she walked through the room.
"Fine, just hurry up and get out there" Daisy rolled her eyes at me.
I quickly tied up my white lace mask and took one last look at puffy sleeved, baby pink 1950's diner dress and walked out to the diner.
Wow, we really were busy today. I did my usual jog taking orders and cleaning tables, I've lost count of the amount of times I had to take the trash out and so many kids were here tonight with lots of broken dishes as a result.
"Five plates and eight glasses were dropped by kids tonight alone, why can't some parents have better control of the children" The manager sighed pouring the broken items into the bin.
"Lailah, could you please take this last bag out? Then we can pack up the dining area and go home" asked the manager.
"Sure" I tied the bag up and walked out the door.
"That's the 9th bag tonight" I mumbled under my breath and shoved the bag in the bin.
"Captain?" A voice made me look up.
Oh. Crap. He is the last person I wanted to see me like this, shoving a trash bag in a bin while wearing this embarrassing pink dress! Damn you Cole!
"EEK!" I screamed and shut myself inside.
"Is everything alright?" My manager asked me when I got back to the dining area.
"Yeah, of course" I shook it off and started lifting chairs up.
"What a weird girl you are" Daisy commented quietly.
"Thanks for your help girls, get home safe!" The manger called out.
I put my uniform back in my locker and walked out the back door in my normal clothes to catch the train back home.
"So it was you" Cole reassured himself as I stepped out the door.
