I changed the end of Chapter 21 so read the last paragraph again before reading this.
"Alison, it's okay." John looked up and smiled, "I love you but I understand." Alison saw the pain that was clearly burning inside John. She went up to him and gave him a long, heartfelt hug. "I'm sorry John," she whispered in his ear and pulled away. They looked at each other whilst in love for one last time, "come here." John goes back in and returns the hug. After a while, they pulled away and John left a little kiss on Alison's right cheek. John sullenly walked away and looked back one last time. He raised his arm and Alison waved back.
Ringo and Alison agreed, they needed each other. Alison needed to agree, Ringo had shook off Ryan, saved her from the fire and given her a home but most importantly Alison loved him with all her heart and so did Ringo. Being the gentleman he was, Ringo allowed his lover to say goodbye to John. Later, he himself had to say goodbye to his bratty 'girlfriend' Caroline. It was tough shaking off such a clinging girl but he managed it and returned with a smile into his lover's arms.
Ringo and Alison were hand in hand, walking the route they had walked hundreds of times before. "This has all happened but you are going to move to Hamburg," the truth lingered in Alison's mind again.
"Alison! Don't mention the H word." He giggled but inside he was in pain too. They both continued walking and turned a corner. They now faced Strawberry Fields but didn't enter, they just kept on walking. "I'm excited for where I'm taking you!" Ringo smiled and added a spring to his step. Alison blushed, "you're embarrassing me," she sniggered. They walked a bit faster and the it all came to Alison, "the boardwalk." Two words slipped out of her mouth in shock. The place where they had first kissed- the symbol of their love.
