Chapter 2 // Black Dresses and Aching Feet

The train is still at a fast speed as it drives nearer to the city. I see Christina sitting up from her place and walk towards the door; she's about to jump. I stare confused as I stand up.
"Christina, what are you doing? The train is slowing down."
Christina turns to me. "I'm gonna jump. Doing things the 'Dauntless way'." I raise both my eyebrows in amusement.
"Really?"
"No I'm just excited for shopping." She squeals as I roll my eyes.
"There's no hurry. The mall is open for another 6 hours."
Christina's eyes widen to the size of tennis balls. "Crap! We need to hurry!" She instantly jumps out the train.
"Christina!" I groan, soon jumping out the train. I land on both feet. Wow, that's an improvement. Christina suddenly grabs my wrist and runs towards the mall, dragging me from behind.
"Hurry up, Tris! We don't have much time!"
I roll my eyes as she begins to slow down. Soon, we are standing outside the mall. Christina squeals just before she continues to skip inside. Jeez, isn't she tired?

I stroll behind Christina as she skips into the mall. It's a vast building covered with glass panels and each faction symbol printed around it. My admiration for the advanced architecture is followed by Christina's excited squeals. Seriously, what is so exciting about shopping? It's only consists of walking around to different stores until your feet ache and your wallet is empty.

Christina squeals when her eyes avert somewhere as she grabs my arm with full force.
"Hurry up, slow-legs! You may be short but you could walk a little faster!" I roll my eyes at her comment. Her dark eyes stare into mine as she jumps up and down on the spot.
"Thanks, Chris. Now, what are you so hyper about that?" I ask monotone, folding my arms.
"Don't be such a downer. Come on! There's a sale in Forever 21! Let's goooo!!" She drags me to the store, soon squealing with excitement as we step in.

Soon I land near a collection of black dresses.

"Um, no Chris. There is no way in HELL I'm wearing a dress to school." She groans as I back away.
"Fine. I'm getting one for myself though." She snatches a dress while looking around for other items. I scoff at her.
"Are you actually going to wear that?" I point to the dress.
"Probably, I don't know. But it's cute, right?"
"Why? You tryna get all dolled up for your one and only, Will?" I wiggle my eyebrows and she glares at me.
"N-no, Tris, of course not.." She stutters while her cheeks blush a deep red.
"Come on, Christina. We know that you go all heart-eyed when you're around him."
She shakes her head, convinced that she isn't liked back. "Am I really that obvious? Well, it doesn't matter," she sighs, hanging the dress back where she took it. "He for sure doesn't like me back."
"You sure about that? Last time I checked, Will would always blush when someone would mention you two together. He always looks your way as well." Christina's blush darkens and her dark eyes light up.
"Really?" She giggles. "I'm gonna get the dress."
"Sure. Come on, let's get this over with."

Soon, I'm holding a small group of black tops elaborated with studs beads; some jeans, some with rips scratched into them. Lastly, I got some leather jackets and boots. I gotta admit, Christina does have a good taste in fashion but it can get annoying as HELL. We ended up visiting many stores, resulting in my feet aching with exhaustion.

"Praise the lord this is over." I sigh with relief until Christina giggles to herself. I raise a brow in suspicion. "What?"
"Oh silly Tris. We aren't done yet, we have to look for makeup!"
"No, Chris. NO. I will NOT rub that stuff in my face."
"Ugh, fine. The clothes are good enough, I suppose. I'll let you off this time."
"Thank the heavens!" I raise my hands in the air. "Can we go home now?"
"Yeah, I'm pretty knocked out from school."
"You sure that isn't the 4 hours torture we just went through?"
"Shut up." Christina chuckles and shakes her head.

The next half hour consisted of us driving around town, singing lyrics to songs until our throats go dry. I drop Christina at her home while waving at her mom. The finally, after the longest 4 hours I've experienced, I'm home.
