After the excitement of the previous day's events and the close call with the armed security forces guarding the top secret tunnels John was buzzing with nervous energy.
He returned to work at Tottenham Court Road Underground Station with a weak feeling in his bowels hoping that the Police or Security Services were not waiting to arrest him. He arrived at work and got a few strange looks from his work colleagues and John hoped that was because he was tense and jumpy.
A few hours went by and there was no arrest and John relaxed and realised he had got away with it. Whoever had been chasing him didn't get a good look at him.
On his lunch break he jumped on the tube, the train, to the next station along the line and looked for Grace Spring. He found her and struggled to contain his excitement but didn't have time to explain why and they arranged to meet after work for a drink. Grace was bemused by the child like quality of John's behaviour and was excited to see him again later.

Mr Smith awoke with a start and was immediately angry. John Wood had escaped and then Mr Smith had found the door back into the top secret tunnels had locked shut so he'd had to make his way back onto the streets of London via the Centre Point Tower basement.
John Wood was nowhere to be seen but Mr Smith knew he would catch up with him tomorrow and the anger he felt nearly consumed him and he felt the billy club cosh, or baton as some called it, in his pocket and planned to make John Wood feel the pain of his anger.

Mr Smith awoke and made plans for his meeting with John Wood. He would isolate him then if he didn't confess quickly he would end up bruised and battered.
Eventually Mr Smith calmed down and decided to follow John Wood and try to catch him in a compromising position and hope to catch him with some of his accomplices. Once he had enough evidence he would apprehend John Wood with a triumphant flourish and show his former bosses at the Met Police what a mistake they had made.
