The Games

19.

The day was still night. I just gazed out in the pitch black night. The others were all talking to each other. They were discussing their plan about hijacking the system... Whatever that meant. At this moment, I didn't care anymore. I wish they were dead... I wish they were all dead, and I were too.

"Hey Alan," Janessa sits beside me.

"Hey," I responded.

"What's on your mind?" She asks.

"Nothing..." I replied.

She didn't respond, she waited for an answer.

"How can anybody deal with this!? How can anybody live like this!?" I asked.

"Well, it's not living... But, I can see hope," Janessa says.

"What do you mean hope?" I asked.

"Caleb's plan... Remember?" She asked.

"Oh," I replied.

"Oh, what?" She asked.

"Do you really think their plan will work?" I asked.

"Of course it will... But when I was over there, they said the eight hour hasn't occurred yet..." She says.

"Wow, another issue we need to worry about..." I said.

"Is everything okay?" She asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine, I'm fine..." I said.

"Could you tell me why you woke up screaming?" She asked.

"I woke up screaming because I had a dream of my sister," I started.

"What was it about?" She asked.

"It started with me waking up in the forest... But the forest was dark, and you guys weren't there. I was looking for you guys, and saw a white building. There were three sections, two bleachers on each sides... The bleachers were white, and people were cheering and shouting. But their faces were all blurry. In the middle, there was a building that had a balcony. Then that's when I saw Amy. Then a bunch of gun shots and bombs occurred. My left leg was broken, and started to bleed. I couldn't move, I just stayed there. Then Ms. Sillitoe was walking towards me, and she shoots me," I said.

"Don't worry... Caleb is working on his plan, and we're going to escape and rescue your sister," Janessa says.

I gave Janessa a smile, and we both walked together to Caleb and Jade. As we sat down, they both explained their plan.

The day was rising with it's sunlight, and we resumed looking for the careers. We kept shouting, and running. Caleb had an amazing plan, and I kept on thinking about it in my mind, we have a chance. Then we came to the edge of the arena, it had a couple of trees. And we passed a tree that was already cut down. We reached the force field. We were stuck in the area, and past the force field I could see some type of building. The building was pretty far of a walk. Then all of a sudden, a male starts speaking over the speaker.

"To all remaining tributes, more than a half mile outside this building, I am announcing a mandatory evacuation. Come to the school, I'm promising you shelter and sanctuary. All tributes come to the school, there you'll be provided with food, medicine, and safety for yourselves. The Games are over," The man reads.

Then I look at the force field slowly disappearing, from the top. Then I hear leaves crunching behind us. I jerk my head around, and it was the remaining careers. It was Daryl and Lee-Lee. They were behind the tree that was cut down. I try to pull down an arrow, but then I see Caleb grabbing a rock from the floor, and hitting me on the head. He hits me very hard, I fall to the left side. Then from my right corner of my eye, I see Janessa sneaking her way into a tree on the right side of Lee-Lee. Daryl was standing on the left side of Lee-Lee of my perspective. Janessa climbs the tree waiting.

Daryl was a tall black basketball player. He was wearing his basketball sweater and blue jeans. Lee-Lee was a black female basketball player who had her long black hair braided, with the same outfit Daryl had.The force field still hadn't been completely disappeared.

"Wow... Betrayed!!!" Daryl yells towards me.

"Caleb what the hell are you doing!?" I asked.

"Alan, did you really think we're your friends???" Caleb asked.

"I FUCKING TRUSTED YOU!!!" I yelled.

"So who's side are you on?" Lee-Lee asked.

Caleb stood while quiet for a second. Then he started to laugh.

"I'm on my own side," Caleb says.

"JANESSA NOW!!!" Jade yells.

I look at Janessa and she swings on a branch while doing her gymnastics, and she kicks Lee-Lee in to the force field. Lee-Lee's face was melted off due to the force field. Part of her face had a slant missing, and so was her left eye. I then see Daryl running towards Lee-Lee to help. The cannon went off.

"LEE-LEE!!!" He yells. He looks back at Caleb. "YOU KILLED HER!!!"

Daryl runs towards Caleb with his spear. Caleb quickly grabs an arrow and my bow, he fires the arrow into Daryl's left eye. He dropped his spear on the floor and dies. Another cannon.

Caleb drops the bow onto the floor, and takes a deep breathe. With my right hand, I touch my head, and see that's it's bleeding. I get up and grab Caleb by the neck chocking him against a tree.

"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!!! FIRST YOU TRICK ME INTO THINKING YOU'RE MY FRIEND, BUT INSTEAD YOU BETRAY ME!!???" I yelled.

"Alan, Alan. Calm down," He gulps.

"Alan stop," Jade says. I look back at her, "What!?" I asked.

Janessa climbs out of the tree and come towards me.

"Alan, he had to do that for a reason," Janessa says.

"What? So you're in on this too?" I asked.

"Alan, before Jordan died, I took Jade into the forest. And we talked about this," Caleb started.

"Talked about what!?" I asked.

"If the careers came once again, we'd pretend to betray you, even though we'd kill the remaining ones," Caleb finished.

"Yeah... It's the truth," Janessa says.

"We've all planned this... We didn't mean for you to see us as a different image," Jade says.

"You can keep torturing Caleb, or we could leave right now. We could leave and escape the Games," Janessa says.

I let go of Caleb, and he starts chocking.

"Alright... Let's go," I say.

We start walking to the school, ready for the plan. But it would take a long time to get there.
