Chapter 18
I awoke to the sound of someone snoring. My eyes shot open and I looked around for the intruder in my bedroom...only to remember my boyfriend sleeping next to me. I smiled. His arm was still wrapped limply around me, his hot breath on the back of my neck. Hm, I've never heard Joshua snore before. Turning in his arms, I kissed his cheek. His gray eyes fluttered open, a groggy smile crossing his lips. His hair stuck up in all directions, a shock of black against my white pillow. He tucked a lock of my hair behind my ear, leaning forward to kiss me. I placed a finger against his lips, shaking my head.
"Good morning, Joshua. I love you but you have terrible morning breath."
Joshua chuckled, pushing the covers aside and pulling me on top of him. I laughed, his hands kneading my lower back. I kissed his cheek again. Joshua laughed, his chest shuddering. I sat up, my legs straddling his waist. His eyes lingered down to my chest, a playful twinkle in them. I chuckled, placing my finger under his chin and guiding his eyes back up to mine.
"Eyes up, mister." I murmured.
He smiled mischievously. I rolled off of him, sighing as I crossed the room to the window wall. Throwing open the curtains, the California morning sun poured in. My alarm clock flashed the time. 8:45 AM. I checked the date on my calendar. June 15th. It's June 15th already?
"You know, the girl is supposed to wear the guy's shirt afterwards?" Joshua said.
"Nice try, but that's only after we sleep together."
Joshua walked over to me, wrapping his arms around me from behind. I leaned into him.
"Your father is going to kill you if he finds you in here. Have you slept in your own room at all since we arrived?"
Joshua kissed the back of my neck, shaking his head.
"No, but I don't see you complaining about it."
"True, because there's nothing to complain about."
Joshua chuckled, letting go of me. I walked over to my closet, opening the doors and looking over my clothes. Unlike Ariana and her academy friends, I don't strain to keep up with the big fashion trends. Truly, I could care less about them. Hell, I wear black-top-black-bottom uniforms almost every day. I threw on my uniform, strapping my gun around my thigh. Thigh holsters, still not as comfortable as you'd think. When I turned around, clad in black, I saw Joshua sitting at the foot of my bed and reading...
"Joshua! Don't touch that!" I blurted, making it over to him in two swift steps.
Joshua tugged the file away from me as I collapsed on the bed next to him. He closed the file and tucked it inside his pants. I gave him a look.
"I have no objection shoving my hands down your pants to retrieve that file."
"Well, then."
I sat up, walking over to him and holding out my hand. He stared at me before giving me the file. I tucked it under my arm protectively.
"Thank you."
He rolled his eyes.
"If I'm going to help you, I need to know at least a bit of information."
I looked around my room, searching for a place to keep the file where Joshua wouldn't find it. I turned to face Joshua.
"Go get dressed. We have to go to the red carpet thing later for Ariana. Go, go, GO!"
I ushered Joshua out and shut the door behind him, locking it. I know exactly where I'm hiding this file. The one place Joshua would never look. Going into my private bathroom, I found my box of Costco size box of pads. Hiding the file under them, I smiled. It's prefect.
