by the river, i sat down and wept,
crying every last year i had kept.
the winter air cooled the tears on my cheek,
revealing all the secrets of the past week.
by the river, i sat down and wept,
i continued to cry until i had no tears left,
but still i thought about the memories i wanted to forget,
still thinking about the first time we met.
so by the river i sat down and wept,
and cried until there was nothing left.
