Waking up was harder than what Annie remembered. It wasn't until she finally managed to open an eye and looked down at the arm which was wrapped protectively around her middle that she discovered why. She had to wince ever so slightly; though her side had healed, thanks to cauterisation, it was still admittedly a little sore. She had placed a makeshift dressing over it, just in case the material of her clothes rubbed or something.
Looking over her shoulders, she wasn't totally surprised to come face to face with a pair of blue eyes which were just looking at her simply. "Please tell me you've not been watching me sleep. Because if so...that's a little creepy."
"No," Clark said quietly while seemingly burying his face into the pillow as much as possible to hide the growing smile which was on his face.
"I do believe you're lying."
"Annie...you're sort of using me as a pillow. There's nothing I can do other than lay here and look at you." Clark said while opening his one visible eye. He remained leaning against the pillow and looked to her as she looked down.
"Sorry," she said realising that she was using one of his arms as a pillow, and that she had also bent her legs in such a way that it trapped one of his in between them. Moving about she sat up so he could get his arm free. Laying back down she faced him, "I quite like this."
"What? Being watched sleeping?" He couldn't help but question with a smile.
"I said this not that." Annie said while rolling her eyes and rubbed a hand against one of her eyes to rid it of lingering sleep.
He propped himself up against his hand and looked at her curiously. "Okay, what's 'this'?"
"Waking up with you." Annie said while sheepishly smiling. The slight boyish grin which slowly appeared on his face caused her if anything to look even more sheepish. "Okay...I think what I just said has had some sort of...effect, I'm just going to...go, and...stop it now, you're really creeping me out!" Annie said while laughing as he just continued to smile down at her.
"I've been thinking."
"Ouch, careful, I hear that can hurt."
Clark rolled his eyes and sat up slowly, Annie sat up too and pushed her hair over her shoulder. She turned and knelt by his side as he turned and looked at her. "I don't know what the future holds," he said while she took to tying her hair up in a loose tie. Annie just smiled a little sadly and nodded, yet she waited for him to continue. "I just know that somewhere in my future, there is you. And... that, I want to be with you, Annie. I know you don't want to stay here; you've never really fitted into Smallville, let's be honest, so I was thinking, or at least I've been thinking on off about this since you mentioned it the other day; that is if you want to perhaps consider apartments in the city?"
Annie sat and stared at him, throughout the whole time Clark sat rambling away a little awkwardly she had felt herself become slightly dumbstruck. She blinked with wide eyes and stared at him some more. He smiled nervously while she just continued to look at him. "You...want to...we...us, together? As in, live in the same space? In the city? As in, move back to Metropolis? As in, us two together in Metropolis, in an apartment?" Annie asked, each question became more happy and excited sounding by the second.
Clark nodded and smiled lightly. "You did say you wanted to move." He stated with a small shrug as she clapped her hands together and grinned. "And this way we get to be together." He said a little quieter, her grin slipped slightly and she looked at him with a little less of a manic smile. She smiled honestly at him and sat still for about a minute before vaulting forwards and wrapping her arms around his neck. "I'm going to take this as a possible yes." He mused while managing to stop himself from falling off the bed from her barging into him, super speed came in handy for Danish buying, and the power of flight came in useful for avoiding falling off of a bed. He held her tightly and buried his face against her shoulder.
