Clark took a step forwards towards the kneeling man. He looked at him with hard blue eyes, as Zod just looked at him casually, threatening the woman he loved seemed to have no effect on the General. But then, he had already gone after his mother, so Clark wasn't wholly surprised he could threaten Annie's life so flippantly.

"We could have built a new Krypton in this squalor," Zod said while picking up fistfuls of rubble which was scorched and burned. He curled his hand around the pieces of fractured brickwork and watched as it crumbled in his hands. Turning his hand, he watched the specks fall to the ground below and get lost in all the other rubble which was beneath his feet. "But you chose the humans over us. I exist only to protect Krypton, that is the sole purpose for which I was born. And every action I take, no matter how violent, or how cruel, is for the greater good of my people. And now I have no people. My soul, that is what you have taken from me!" Zod said darkly while exclaiming and moving so quickly that Clark didn't have time to block the attack which was aimed his way. Being latched onto, he was so easily flung aside as Zod took his anger out on him. "I'm going to make them suffer, Kal; these humans you have adopted. I will take them all from you, one by one." He said while turning and watching as Clark pulled himself out of the debris he had landed in. Zod watched as he took a step forwards and narrowed his eyes.

"You are a monster, Zod. And I'm going to stop you." Clark said firmly while Zod met him halfway and the two commenced exchanging blows. Once simply punching became enough, the two ended up crashing through a nearby building, creating yet more destruction in the already destroyed city. Clark watched as Zod seemed to temporarily lose control of his senses, watching as his eyes suddenly started to glow a deep red, he moved out of the way as Zod's heat vision destroyed the building they had suddenly crashed into.

It didn't stand a chance against the sudden heat and them forcedly pummelling each other through the walls; the building started to fall apart, walls crumbled and fell, and windows smashed and cracked. Around them the whole place was falling apart, and without so much as a second glance they flew back out, leaving the building to collapse in on itself as they went further into the city. Skidding to a halt along a road, they parted temporarily, only for Clark to shield himself from a nearby LexCorp fuel truck being hurtled his way. A massive fireball of an explosion happened from this, not that it was paid much mind to as they commenced battling it out again.

"There's only one way this ends, Kal! Either you die, or I do!" Zod said while managing to knock Clark down. "I was bred to be a warrior, Kal. Trained my entire life to master my senses. Where did you train? On a farm!" Zod exclaimed while dispensing of his suit armour. Stepping away from Clark as he slowly pushed himself up, he stepped off the ground and started to hover in the air; slowly but surely rising higher. Without a second thought, Clark flew up and crashed into him, he grasped onto him as they eventually came hurtling back down to the ground. Crashing through another building, Clark managed to get the upper hand and wrap his arms around Zod's neck. "If you love these people so much, you can mourn for them!" Zod said while his eyes commenced glowing again, in the awkward kneeling position he was in, he still managed to look towards the stone staircase. "Starting with her."

Clark hadn't realised what he was on about until he sharply turned his head and saw Annie. "No!" He shouted out and pulled at Zod, his aim went off and instead the red burning streams of light went shooting over her shoulder. Even still she let out a pained noise and grasped onto her shoulder, though that wasn't the only backlash of a wayward hit; the sheer force of the attack which hit out against the wall behind her caused structural collapse. Parts of the wall shot out from the smoking holes which were now in it, and this rubble naturally hit out and on her

Zod looked momentarily proud of himself as he watched as a rather large piece of rubble fell and hit her across the head; she crumpled and lost her footing and went falling rather horribly down the stairs until she landed on the ground motionless. Even this ended in her hitting her head against more nearby debris, and as she laid small drops of blood splattered the floor from her injuries.
