Chapter Two - Espresso and Fancy Doughnuts

"Chris and Kass!" The barista called.

I walked up and grabbed my vanilla bean frapachino and her double shot Carmel espresso.

"I have no idea how you like the taste of coffee" I said as I set her cup down in front of her.

"Honey it soothes me." She replied in her sassiest voice she could pull off.

I rolled my eyes and scoffed.

"We got a couple hours to kill before the end of the season party starts, what do you want to do?" I asked

"Wanna head to the gas station and buy a crap load of junk food and for a sleepover tonight?"

"Sure but let's pick up Drew on the way, he said he's home alone and bored out of his mind, and let's get it on the way home, so we don't have to carry it at the water park."

"Okay grab Drew a Mountain dew or he'll never forgive us. Remember last time?" She rolled her eyes at the memory

"Fine." I walked back up to the counter, bought a Mountain dew, put it in my backpack, grabbed my frappe, and left with a sassy hair flip and walked out towards Drews house, leaving Kriss behind.

As I walked down the street to Drew's, Kass texted me and told me she was going to get some cash and try to get some doughnuts from her mom's bakery, Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice

I walked up the steps and walked through his front door like any other day.

"DREW HURRY UP I BOUGHT YOU A MOUNTAIN DEW"

He poked his head around the corner, "Really? You remembered?"

I rolled my eyes and chucked the bottle of mountain dew at him, "You owe me $1.85."

He looked around me "I thought you said Kass was with you?"

"She went down to her mom's bakery to go see if she could snag us doughnuts"

"Oh I love her mom's doughnuts" Drew smiled and sighed.

" Hurry up bro chop chop we don't have all day." I ushered him back to his room.

He chuckled and replied with, "Hang on just let me finish getting ready."

I sighed, sat on his living room couch, and got on my phone.

Drew is a light brown haired boy with deep sea green eyes. He is just a little bit taller than me,( Dont tell him I admitted it, my height is my pride.) Is in good shape, is pretty cute, and has been my best friend since the beginning of second semester seventh grade year.

And no reader this isn't one of those sappy romance books where all of a sudden a girl and a boy best friend look at each other and realize OH EM GEE I LOVE YOU HOW HAVE I NOT SEEN IT BEFORE.

That's a little cheesey don't ya think?

Just as I finished thinking about this, he rounded the corner with his plaid blue and white swim shorts on and a red tank top with a pair of aviators.

"Ready to go Sissy?" He teased.

"Shut up," I rolled my eyes, smiling at that stupid nickname he gave me sometime last July.

"You know you love it," he teased further.

"Thats what makes it annoying." I retorted, sticking out my tounge.

"Thanks for the mountain dew by the way Chris"

"No problem, could you grab me your spare pair of aviators though? I forgot mine." I smiled and gave him my best pouty face.

He groaned and turned around to run back to his room for a second pair of sunglasses.

Just then the doorbell rang so I went to answer it.

"Hello..? Oh it's just you."

"Yah just me. With half a dozen doughnuts for the three of us. Open the door Chris, before I use the doughnuts as a battering ram." Kass threatened.

"No need to be such a savage." I laughed at her sassyness.

Is that even a word? I laughed again at my stupidity and she gave me a weird look.

"What?" I asked still giggling a little.

"Nothing...." She looked at me all squinty.

"No seriously what?" I asked sobering up from my laughing fit I just had.

"Are you okay?" She asked skeptically

"I'm fine just hand me a doughnut ya dork" I replied.

"Kass is that you?" Drew called from his room.

"Yah! I brought the doughnuts!" She yelled.

Not even two seconds later he was at the box taking two doughnuts then dissapearing around the corner to his room again.

"Im going to go see what is taking him so long." I told Kass, "Be right back..."

"Use protection!" She replied cheerfully with a smug smile on her face.

I turned around mortified with a disgusted look on my face.

Ew.

I flipped back around and walked back to Drews room.

"DREW!" I pounded on his door.
"HURRY UP"

The door swung open, "Impatient are we today sissy." He said smirking

I grabbed the front of his shirt, "Drew we are leaving now." I responded annoyed, " Did you grab the-"

Before I could finish a pair of aviators were thrown at me.

Which I almost caught.

"Nice butterfingers." Said Drew

"Shut up," I replied picking the fallen aviators up off the ground.
"Let's go losers I don't have all day." Kass said impatiantly at the door

"Can we leave the doughnuts here though? I don't want to be carrying them around all day." I said eyeing the box

"Alright," responded Drew immidiatly picking up the box and dissapearing around the corner.

After he came back we walked out the door and out into town.

"So sissy got your eye on anyone lately?" Drew asked smirking

Kass coughed loudley and nudged him hard.

"Oh!" He exclaimed "Sorry I asked Chris..."

Out of the corner of my eye I saw his hands ball into fists, him tense up, and him start to mumble something about,

'Fucking asshole messing with my sister' and 'If he ever comes near her again, it won't be pretty.'

I smiled at Drew and how protective he was over me then shook my head laughing softly.

We approached the gate in front of the water park and the party looked like it was already in full swing.

Do people still say that? "In full swing?"

"Ready for the best party of the season?" Kass smirked.

"I was born ready Wifey." I smiled and winked.

Behind me Drew fake gagged himself and we all laughed.

I linked arms with Drew and Kass and walked through the gate to the town water park.
