Alex
I woke up, with the pit-pattering sound from the window. I had to rub my eyes just to stay awake, it's been a very exhausting day. I looked at the window and all I saw was lots of trees, green stuff, plants and more trees. How long have I been stuck here? I can feel my butt, sticking to the seat.
“Mom, are we there yet?” I asked my mom. No response. I looked over, great she’s asleep.
I looked over to the driver seat that’s my dad--well stepdad John and not to be offensive he’s pretty weird.
“Uhm, are we there yet John?” I asked him desperately trying to get comfortable.
He just looked at me with no sign of emotion then he shook his head, see weird. I don’t see what my mom liked in him.
We're moving to his hometown I forgot the name, because I really didn’t care.
My life wasn’t a wonderland in New York but I loved that place, it’s my hometown, my friends are all there ---well, friend and cousins--- and every memory I had since I was born.
That place was at least 20 ---fine 10 percent-- significant, even though it was 90 percent a living hell.
I felt tears escaping my eyes and for the first time I let it flow freely; I’m tired of pretending to be happy, that everything’s okay, that I’m okay with all of this because I’m not. I’m tired of making everyone else happy, how about me? Did I not have that right to be happy? I closed my eyes and remembered everything I left behind.
*Flashback*
“Alex, come on hurry up! We’re going to be late!” Liza shouted shaking me furiously.
“AHHHHH! How the hell did you get in here?!” I screamed hitting her with a pillow making her fall to the floor face first.
“Ouch!!! Way to be thanking me for saving your ass for another late, FRIEND!” She shouted appearing behind the covers then hitting me with a nearby pillow. Oh, it’s on!
Feathers were flying everywhere and the room was a complete mess.
I have to make sure my mom never gets to see my room 'till I get to college or I’ll be grounded till I have a family of my own and since I’m not planning to get married, I’ll be stuck her 'till I’m 60.
We laid back breathing heavily and laughing our asses off.
“But seriously, we have to go or you’ll be meeting the principal again.” She said looking over. I may or may not have problems with waking up. I’ m not a morning person.
“Come on! You have like 10 minutes!” She said shooing me off.
I bolt to the bathroom took a bat then got dressed up in my casual attire, a simple t-shirt paired with jeans and a pair of sneakers.
I’m not really the oh-my-god-what-to-wear-kind in short I don’t care about how I look. I’m ugly I get that and I know that nothing’s going to change if I put a ton of make-up and use designer clothes; Accept what God gave you no matter how bad it may be.
I put my hair in its everyday ponytail style and since I don’t wear make-up, all in all it took me 10 minutesyo get ready, and yes we were late.
“Oh! Ms. Jones and Ms. Benson fancy seeing the both of you here again.” Mr. Arthur, our principle said with zero amusement. He caught us sneaking into class. I swear this guy is an alien, how many eyes does he have?
“Fancy seeing you as well Mr. Arthur you look different! Let me guess...a new tie? Oh shoes? Wait I know it...haircut!” Liza tried to get us out. I’m not the talk kind, but apparently, mission: epic fail.
