*Flashback: Three years ago*
I look down at my phone and continue to walk into my usual first stop of the day- the coffee shop. Derek was supposed to call me back to let me know on the plans for tonight. It's our one year anniversary. But I'm kind of hoping that he doesn't tell me because I want it to be a surprise.I walk up to the clerk at the cash register at the counter. "The usual, Rowan?" She asked friendly.
"Yeah. Thank you." I answer, still looking at my screen on my phone. When it came to waiting on calls or texts, I tended to get a bit impatient at times.
"Here you go. One bagel with strawberry cream cheese and black coffee with two spoonfuls of sugar." The lady said, walking back to me with a small, white paper bag and a cup of coffee.
"Thanks, Jane." I reply, taking the bag and cup and going over to a window booth. I finally received a text from him.
Derek<3: I'm looking forward to tonight. Dinner, a movie, and a great surprise.'
I smile, chuckling. 'You're such a dork sometimes.' I texted back.
Derek<3: But you love me anyways.'
'Yes, I do. And don't you forget that. :).' I texted back.
Derek<3: 'As long as you don't forget that I love you more, Ro.'
'This is getting cheesy, isn't it?' I text back, smiling inwardly and outwardly at him.
Derek<3: 'Maybe a little. But I'd be cheesy with you any day.'
I roll my eyes, chuckling again, and eat my bagel and finish my coffee, leaving to go back to work in the marines. I had just came back from war like six months ago.
~Later that day- Nighttime~"Okay. Where are we going, Derek?" I ask, laughing a bit. He had blindfolded me and was leading me somewhere.
"Okay, now you can take the blindfold off." Derek answered as I untied it and slid it off my eyes. We were standing on the terrace at the Kennedy Center. It was just the two of us and is beautiful. "This is the first place-"
"That we met." I finish for him, smiling, "It's still beautiful."
"Not as beautiful as the view in front of me." Derek said, staring at me with a sweet smile. I smile even bigger while I look down at the ground for a second or two and look back at him.
He knelt down on one knee and took out a small, black, velvety box and opened it to reveal a green emerald on a gold band. Green emeralds were my favorite- more than diamonds. I covered my mouth with my hands as I watch him propose.
"I want to make us completely official. I'm crazy in love with you, Ro. You're my other half and makes me happy truly. Will you, Rowan Grace Price, do me the honor and marry me- be mine?" He stated, waiting for my answer.
I smiled, nodded, and commented, "Yes. I will." He stood up, slid the ring on my finger, and spun me into a hug, kissing me over and over on the lips.
~~~~~I had took off my hat and jacket and was laying in bed, tired but I couldn't fall asleep. I drag myself out of bed and open up the new laptop, plugging in the plug into the socket. It took two minutes to load and come on. I quickly identified myself and typed in the password. Then it thought again.
