"Rowan. Rowan, wake up." I heard McGee say as I sit up quickly.

"What? Yeah? Yeah." I reply alert, looking at the time on my computer. It was 5:00 A.M. I must've dozed off for two hours.

"What time did you come in to work?" He asked concerned.

"3:30?" I answer, standing up after quickly hiding the information on my monitor. "Why? What time did you come in?" I looked over at him.

"Just a minute ago." He replied, looking at me fully now, "Have you- Have you been crying?"

I roll my eyes and scoffed a little. "I don't cry, Elf Lord. So no, I haven't." I lied convincingly, sneering a little. But I have kind of been crying. My fiancé, who I thought died in Iraq was really alive, is now dead for real this time.

"What time did you get in from Russia?" He asked curiously.

"What's with the twenty questions? Am in interrogation?" I sarcastically remark.

"Sorry." He murmured.

I sigh and rubbed my eyes with one hand. "I got in about two or three-ish." I comment, "I'm just- The past three days were just long."

"Wanna talk about it?" McGee asked, sitting in his chair at his desk, still watching me.

I scoffed again, "No. When do I ever want to talk about my feelings?"

"You don't have to do that around me, you know?" He said.

"I don't know what you are talking about." I state, checking the time again. It was 5:25 now. "That's it. I'm going home."

"Why?" He asked.

I was halfway to the elevator when I turn back around to face him. "To write my resignation letter. I'm resigning from NCIS for personal reasons."

McGee stood up and hurried over to me. "Why do you want to quit? You never quit- It's not like you."

"I'm not quitting. I'm resigning." I simply answer, "Simple as that."

"But you just started working here." McGee replied.

"And I've brought nothing but trouble here since I first stepped foot in this place! I'm trouble, McGee. Everywhere I go, bad things happen. Nothing good ever happens with me around." I state, "I'm leaving now. Goodbye, Tim." I smile a little sadly.

I walk into the elevator as McGee stops the doors from closing. He looks at me as I wait for him to say something. "What?" I ask. He stepped in and shut the elevator off as soon as the doors closed.

"Is this about your mom being alive?" He asked me, "You told me."

"I don't know. Maybe. Stop digging around the past, McGee. It's nothing good. Look at me. I've been living in the past." I answer, pushing my hands in my front pockets, "You better go before the rest of the team shows up."

"Wait for them. At least, you can tell them why you're leaving NCIS." He replied.

"No. I need to find my mom- alone. I need to find answers. Back in Russia, everything changed. No one else that I care about is going to die because of me." I murmured softly, looking down at the floor while crossing my arms across my chest.

"Rowan-" McGee started back up.

"Tim, please get out of the damn elevator." I finish, looking away while closing my eyes tightly.

"Okay, okay." He said, stepping out while look at me one last time.

"I'm sorry." I say quietly just as the doors closed back as took me down to the first floor. I walk out and slid my hood over my face to prevent my dad from seeing me as he and Ziva got in the elevator.
