Why does love have to work like this

As I stare at the sky above

Watching the stars attempt to outshine one another

Listening to the wind scatter the leaves in every direction

On a normal night I could stay and watch them all night long

But something was clouding my mind

You

Why you

It's driving me crazy

You're constantly on my mind

All I can think about is you

I'm pulling on the ends of my hair

No it can't be you

Why does it have to be you

Small tears trickle down my rosy cheeks

I cup my face in my hands

even though I know I'm alone

Why I whisper why

I sigh and fall back onto the grass

Feeling it's cold blazes press up against my back

It's not fair

Why do I have to feel this way

It's not like you do

I'm just another face in school

No one special to you

Just a friend

 nothing more nothing less

That's all I am a friend

That word runs through my mind

Friend

Just someone who you can talk to

Never love

Never

Share secrets

But I could never tell you mine

Never

Even if I told you how I felt you wouldn't feel the same

In your eyes I'm just a friend

Maybe not even that

It's not fair

Why does love have to work like this
