Why can't summer stay a little longer

Hot sand curling around my toes

A cool ocean breeze causes my hair to flutter lightly behind me

The waves crash into the rocks sending flicks of sea water in my face

A small smile graces my face

Owe how I wish I could stay here forever

Soon the savory aroma of sausages and burgers will be gone

Along with everybody else too

The children playing in the rock pools gone

The surfers and swimmers gone

But it's not fair

It comes so quickly and before you know it it's gone

Why can't summer last just a little longer

The harsh months of winter are soon to come

Why do they stay the longest

The warm summer days turned into frosty cold years

Come back soon summer

Promise me

I'll see you soon

Just promise me that you'll stay just a little longer next time

That's all I ask for

Goodbye for now
