Victor's warning brought chaos in my mind. As soon as he informed me, I didn't waste anytime to run back home. The house is crowded with nurses and doctors. The woman who is supposed to be caretaking my mother is at the side of the room trying to comfort Orsan who is frustrated as well.
I look at the nurses and doctors crowding my mother and here I prayed hard that she lives. She's the only one left for us and having her dead meant leaving us behind.
After hours of waiting, the doctor finally talked to the three of us. I didn't realize that Sancho followed us but he tried not to interfere with our matters.
"Who here is the eldest?" The doctor asked. Orsan raised his hand and lifted his gaze. I looked at him and noticed the puffiness of his eyes and the bags under them. "I'm sorry to inform you but your mother is in a critical condition. She has been experiencing headaches frequently, am I right?" Orsan nods. "We tried to revive her pulse but..."
"Is she alright? Can we talk to her?" Victor cuts off. The doctor sighed and that moment we knew what is coming.
"Your mother is experiencing stress lately which triggered her not to eat correctly causing her to be anemic."
"That's not the problem, isn't?" Orsan asks, rubbing both palms on his face. His weariness influences us.
"I guess she haven't told you yet but she is experiencing something worse even before. She didn't treat it earlier creating a big gap of casualties."
"Please cut to the chase. What is it that mom has?" I say. I really don't want to know but at the same time I want to.
"Your mother is experiencing heart failures. It seems like her heart's muscle tissues are thin enough to protect her. She only has limited time left." The doctor turns to Orsan. "One thing left to do is surgery but it will cause a lot of price."
"Just do it. I don't care how much. Just save her." Orsan says. I place one hand on his shoulder to comfort him. He's too tense.
"Alright. Tomorrow morning, we will be transferring her to the hospital. You can get her ready."
Victor stood. "Can we talk to her?" The doctor nods in approval. The three of us went to her and asked the doctor and the nurses to leave.
"Mom, we're here." Orsan took mom's free hand and squeezed it. I touched mom's other hand and Victor stayed at the other side of the bed.
"Oh, my children." She speaks. Her voice is rusty but she's trying. "I'm sorry I never told you. I guess I'm really selfish."
"It's okay mom. You can still stay right? Please fight for us." Victor pleaded. "I only have you now. My parents... they left me. I only have you now and Orsan and Olivia. Please don't do this to us."
"Can I talk to Victor for a while? I need to tell him something." Mom asks. It feels like she's saying her last words already. I don't get it. Why now?
"Alright mom. We will stay out for a while. Victor, call us if you're done." Orsan pulled me out of the room with him.
I'm nervous.
What if Victor says something? What if mom's last breath is with him? I don't know what I'll do without mom. I regret everything. Everything I did and everything I didn't do.
I wish I could turn back time. I could've told mom that I love her so much. That I want her to be with us forever.
"...Olivia." my thoughts flew away when I heard Orsan's voice. "Hey."
"Orsan, what will happen to mom? Is there a way we can save her surely?" I asked.
"Yes, of course. I'll do anything. I'll create a way for her to get that surgery. Even if I have to pay for all the expenses, i'll do it." I managed to smile at his declaration.
"I'm worried, Orsan. I'm worried about mom. She's keeping it all to her. She didn't tell us about her condition and now we just added more to her burdens. Why didn't we notice that?"
Orsan pulled me closer and enveloped me with his arms. "I'm worried too. I love our family much more than anyone. I don't want to lose a single one anymore."
"I'm not branching out of this family." I say. I lay down on his chest to rest. I feel Orsan trying to keep his eyes open since he's holding his breath. "Thank you, Orsan. You're the best brother one could have."
"I know."

I woke up in my old bed room. I found Sancho sleeping at the floor. I didn't get to talk to him since I've been stressed out. I want to tell him about this but I might trigger feelings that I don't want coming back.
I sit up and look around my room. It's pretty much the same from when I left. I stood up and walked around but carefully tried not to wake Sancho. I look at my stuff and found a small piece of paper lying at the side of the wardrobe.
I noticed whose writing this came from. It's from Victor. I guess he wrote this when I left and accidentally left it here in my room. Now this gets me curious.
What did mom tell Victor?
"Oh, you're awake." I turn around and saw Sancho getting up. "It's still midnight. You can sleep more if you want. I just stayed because it was raining."
"No... uhm you can stay a bit longer. I'll go to mom. You can sleep at my bed." I was about to head out when Sancho stopped me.
"I'm... I have something to ask of you." Sancho asks.
"What is it?"
He gulped and then formally stood in front of me. "Why didn't you tell me you were Victor's sister?"
"What?"
"I didn't know you were until now. I thought I was mistaken but I don't remember you talking about Victor."
I look at him once again, not sure where this is going. "What are you talking about?"
"Victor... he's someone I know who has been affiliated with Amanda." Oh, I remember.
"Yeah... Victor mentioned." I admit. "I just found out about that recently so I didn't get a chance to inform you. Besides, I never knew you two were acquaintances."
"I just... I know something about him."
"What? What're you talking about?"
He sits down my bed and lift his gaze upon me.
"I know who his family is."
