Annabeth was taking guard while Percy contacted Grover. If he got distracted, he might break the empathy link. She took a granola bar (she didn't know where it came from) and ate a pice. She neither Percy had eaten since they got trapped in Tartarus.

Once in a while she would see a monster or hear the laughter of Gaea and Tartarus.

"I contacted Grover" Percy said "He told me that there are three levels in Tartarus, the monster level, here, the reincarnation level, where reincarnated souls go, the immortal level, where unique monsters go and the Doors of Death."

"Eat something Percy"

He ate the rest of the bar.

"Today is July fifteen, we need to hurry up, Grover told me."

"There should be a portal to take us to the next level, where Dynamo is, I think" Annabeth said.

"Let's go"

Tartarus reminded Annabeth of Daldaus' labryth, full of confusing corridors that could drive you insane. There would be also cliffs that could take you plummeting a hundred miles an hour if you weren't paying attention. The only light they had was two head flashlights that Daedalus' laptop could make. the laptop was half broken, because of the fall.

Finally, they reached to an open room, with, a trash can truck? some stairs that went to another room apparently over them, suddenly, the truck moved, no, not a truck, a hellhound. The weird part was that the hellhound said, "I am Dynamo, the gatekeeper to the reincarnation level. Tell your story and introduce yourself" he didn't had a human voice, his voice was like a hungry wolf growling.

She saw Percy take out Riptide, but Annabeth mouthed 'not now, wait.' He understood and put away his wepon.

"I am Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena, he is Perseus Jackson, son of Poseidon"

She explained her quest to close the Doors of Death, Hera/Juno (equally annoying in both ways) plan to unite the greek and roman demigods, how Leo destroyed half New Rome, and how they ended up in Tartarus.

"If you pass the test, I'll let you go, but be warned, your quest is a suicide quest, Gaea's forcer are much more powerful than you imagine."

"If you defeat my surprise, get in the portal, don't go to the stairs, and another free advice, the other guardians won't be more gentle than I am"
