Val P.O.V.
Pain shot through my body. My mark burned. I tried to stay silent but I couldn't hold my screams in. My screams echoed through the room. The burning sensation flowed through me, getting more intense by the second. Black spots flooded my vision as the darkness took over.

Flashback... Sort of.
(When the italics stop she's woken up.)
Light flowed into my vision, creating a scene around me. A tall, blond woman stood in front of me. She was smiling, motioning for someone to come over. I turned around and saw a little blond girl running over.

She doddled over, her small toddler legs not taking her very fast. I stepped to the side, but she never even looked up at me. She jumped into the woman's arms, you could see their resemblance.

"Momma Momma! Spin me!" She said happily. Her mother smiled and spun around. "My dear Valentine, how can you like being spun so much?" She asked sweetly.

Valentine? What? Light swarmed around me, creating yet another scenery around me. I was by a small lake, the stars reflecting beautifully.

I heard shuffling in the woods beside me. I turned and saw two wolves running through them, being pursued by many others.

The wolf in the lead was a large, brown and white wolf. Close behind it was a smaller wolf. It was black and silver, shining beautifully in the moonlight. It had a slightly larger stomach, which I had never seen a wolf have.

They ran past me, not even looking over. The wolves behind them came closer, and I realized they were being chased. They were rugged, missing patches of fur and scratches running down their sides. None of them slowed, sprinting after the two others.

I wanted to follow, but my body wouldn't move. The landscape started to shift. Darkness surrounded me. I looked around and saw stars surrounding me, the moon high up in the sky.

I stepped forwards slightly, and ripples flowed from beneath my feet. It got brighter, and I looked over to see a beautiful woman walking towards me, the waves rippling around her.

She had long, silver hair and a gorgeous circlet of silver leaves and midnight blue flowers. She stopped in front of me, a smile spreading across her face.

"Who are you?" I asked fearfully. "Ah, I see Oliver has not explained much." She said in a soft, dulcet voice. "What do you mean?" I asked.

"You see, I am the Goddess of the Moon. I pair each of my children with their perfect match. But when one is rejected, I sense it. My failure. Commonly, when this happens, it is out of hate. Yet, when Oliver rejected you and my choice, it was not out of hatred, but out of love. I cannot do much, as to not upset the balance. But I can give you a second chance." She told me.

"A second chance?" I asked quietly. "Yes my dearest child. I could make Oliver's choice disappear, leaving your bond stronger than ever. I was confused at first. Not feeling the hatred I often do. But when I looked into the pool of light, I understood. Nathaniel never got the chance to live with his mate, but he should never have used his anger as fuel to hurt another." She told me, smiling slightly.

"What do I have to do?" I asked, worried about her motive. "No my dear. It pains me to keep two young children in love apart. Sadly, there will likely be some slight side affects, but nothing life altering. I do not have the power to make it perfect, but you would be soul mates again." She said, sounding sad.

"Side affects?" I asked. "Oh, it wouldn't be anything. The only possibility I can think of may be that your hair stays aquamarine, possibly a mark to show. I would never give you the option if the affects were terrible." She said comfortingly.

I nodded slightly, understanding."Will it cause Oliver any pain?" I asked. "No, if anything it will remove the pain that has placed itself in his heart." She said softly. "I'll do it." I said determinedly. She smiled in a motherly way.

The water started to rise, swirling around me like a vortex. Flashes of light created patterns, wolves running across water, dancing people and plants rising up.

Suddenly, everything went dark. All I could hear was the sound of the wind blowing by my face. Colours brightened enough for me to see where I was. I was on concrete, facing a large warehouse. I walked in curiously.

I opened doors, following the sound of people's voices. I opened a door, and saw the one thing I had been trying to forget for my entire life.

A younger version of me hung in the middle of the room, blood pooling below her. A man circled my younger self, holding the whip.

I backed up in fear until I hit the wall. I saw my younger self glare at him, biting her lip so she wouldn't talk. I turned and tried to open the door, but it was locked. Hot tears started to drip down my face, remembering every last detail.

"You're worthless. A cowardly child. I can't believe you've survived this long. I wish I could put you out of your misery, leave you where failures like you belong. Lying dead in a ditch where no one will look, because no one will miss you." The man taunted.

"You're a monster. And no one misses monsters."

The dark forest surrounded me, the cool air pricking my face. Fear shot through my veins, my heart pumping frantically. Why did I have to see him again? I've relived that moment over and over. I am a monster. But I can't leave Oliver and Dom to die.

I let myself lock away my fears and hatred for myself and looked around. In front of me Nathaniel was mumbling to himself, leaning on a tree.

"Stupid little girl. I need her awake before I kill her. Oliver will feel the pain. He's still in love. How should I end her? Limb by limb. No." He continued to mumble, but I couldn't make out the rest.

I looked around, careful not to show him that I was awake. Dom and Nico were tied to trees, both unconscious. Oliver was hanging by his wrists on a branch. I couldn't tell if he was awake. My hands were tied behind my back, I was laying on my side in the dirt.

I slowly used my nails to cut at the rope. I unravelled it and left it behind me so it looked like it as still on. I gripped it and shuffled my feet, notifying him that I was awake.

His head flashed up, his evil grin planted on his lips. "Get up." He growled. I flipped so I was on my back, then pretended to sleep.

"Get. Up." He ordered. "Goose." I told him. "What?" He asked. "Goose. I said goose." I told him, dragging myself to my feet as slow as I could.

"What the hell does goose mean?" He asked angrily. "Ooh, I probably meant duck. Yah, duck." I said.

"What duck!?!" He asked, almost growling. I groaned to myself then used my head to motion behind him. He turned around, trying to see what I was talking about.

Well, we have an idiot. I brought my leg up and kicked his head. He fell to the ground. I dropped the ropes and backed up, getting into my fighting stance.

"Idiot."

Do you forgive me? I hope this makes up for that last chapter.
"I am prepared to meet my maker.
Whether or not he's prepared to meet me,
Well that's a different matter entirely.
Isn't it?"
