Not Today

Chapter 5

*7:02pm*
I grab 4 ciders out of the fridge and pass them to everyone, without speaking a word to each other and only exchanging smiles. We turn the TV up as loud as we can to muffle out Georgia's screams and cries in pain. I feel awful for what we have done to her and I can tell everyone else does too by how we are sat in silence sipping at our beers.
'Shall we go for a walk?' Tyler speaks up making our faces light up as an excuse to get away from the torturous cries coming from upstairs and to actually do something. We all get up and follow Tyler out of the house.

*7:49pm*

We get further and further into the woods still silent waiting for someone to break the silence.
'Oh my god Ruby do you remember that Sunday at the lake when you and Sean go too into the game of dares?' I start laughing making Ruby have a nervous laugh.
'You're funny' she smirks and pushes me slightly towards the edge of the woodland path.
'What happened?' Tyler pipes in wanting to know more details.
'Wait where's Josh?' Ruby asks seriously, avoiding the question.
'Don't avoid Ruby' Tyler laughs 'what actually happened?' He digs but I start to get worried
'When was the last time he was here? I thought he was just being quiet. We've been out for about an hour now' I start to panic now after what happened with Georgia, we don't know what is in this place 'Josh!' I shout starting everyone else shouting him.

I hear crunching coming from behind us, my heart racing, these woods are starting to scare me now. It's pitch black, the only light coming from the moonlight which casts shadows from the trees making everything look human and alive.
'I want to go back' I say, my voice shaking with fear.
'Guys?' I hear Josh's voice all timid I turn around to see Josh with his hair messed up covered in mud and his clothes ripped.
'What happened?' Ruby asks, I can't get any words out at the moment.
'A dog just jumped me, it was one of those viscous black ones, it was on top of my and clawing at my chest, it scratched all down my chest and ripped my clothes, I couldn't get him off me, how didn't you hear my screams?' He stumbles. I look around to everyone confused as to what has just happened, he clearly wasn't far away as it seems like it has only just happened by the look of him.
'What is going on in these woods' I say scared looking around at everyone who looks as terrified as I am.
'I'm scared Ruby, what if I get the same thing as Georgia' Josh says hugging Ruby close. 'I don't want to be infected' he says almost crying now. I feel so bad for him.
