Today is game day. The team has morning skate in about three hours before their game against the Dallas Stars which is supposed to be really good. It's currently 8:30 in the morning right now as I sit up in my bed, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. I quickly make my bed and put on slippers to head into the kitchen and eat some breakfast. I'm planning on going to the gym today before heading to the rink for the boys' practice so I need to get moving.
"Hey Quincy," Caden calls to me from his seat on the couch.
'Wow he must've gotten up early too today' I thought.
"Wassup Caden," I joke.
"What's going on..." Caden looks at me suspiciously with a smirk on his lips. Truthfully, I couldn't sleep well at all last night because I couldn't stop thinking about my night with Brendan. And ever since then I've been in such a good mood, more so than usual.
"Just going to grab some breakfast before heading to the gym. We need to be at the rink by 11:00 right?" I ask.
"Yep," he says, his eyes glued on the TV. I walk to the fridge and pull out some milk for my bowl of cereal. I pour some Raisin Bran into a large bowl and put the milk in, heading into the living room to eat next to Caden.
"So how was Stephanie last night?" I ask Caden after taking a bite of my cereal.
"She was good, we just watched some movies and ordered pizza. How was Brendan?"
"Great," I smile softly at the memories. "We went put put golfing, then out to dinner and then out for ice cream."
"Wow sounds like a filled evening."
"It kind of was," I laugh.
I finish my bowl of cereal while watching ESPN with Caden and then get up to put my dish in the sink and head into my room to get changed into work out clothes. I close my door and put on some music while I dig around for an outfit that would keep me warm while walking outside, but not too hot for once I got into the gym. I decide on a pair of black nike running leggings, an old soccer t-shirt and a San Jose Sharks sweatshirt. I had to have at least one piece of my old town's hockey team, plus I genuinely liked the sharks. I put the outfit on and slip on my running shoes before heading into the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. When that's all said and done I grab my phone, some headphones and my ID card to get into the gym that I recently joined.
"Bye Caden! I'll by back here no later than 10:15 so we can head to the rink together!" I shout as I walk out the door.
"Go burn some calories!" He shouts back at me. I just laugh at him as I close the door. Truth is though I don't go to the gym to only 'burn calories' but to rather get in shape. And plus it makes me feel good. I make the short drive to the gym and quickly run in because the weather outside is seriously freezing. I walk into the locker room and grab a random locker, putting in my sweatshirt and wallet, locking it up with the lock that I brought with me. I plug in the headphones into my phone and then put them in my ear, turning on Hoodie Allen. I walk over to a treadmill and immiediently start walking to get my legs moving. After 10 minutes of walking at a brisk pace I bump it up and start running at a 7.1 pace. I close my eyes as Small Town starts to play and my legs do what they're so used to.
I stand in front of the exit to the gym, not really wanting to leave because I know the second I step outside my sweat will freeze. Gross I know, but it's so true. I gather all of my belonging close to my chest and quickly push open the door to run to my car. I unlock it and throw my things in, rapidly climbing into my seat. I immiediently turn on the heater, my butt warmer, and music before leaving the parking lot. After the quick ride home I walk inside and see Caden in the same exact spot as I left him over an hour ago.
