Chapter 10: Decisions

   I felt my eyes widen. I dropped Stevie's hand, running down the hall to get the nurse. When we arrived, Stevie's fingers had stopped moving but her eyes were in a steady pace of trying flicker open. The nurse squealed with excitement, for Stevie's one of the few people that have ever improved in this condition. A few moments later Dr.Martin walked in, taking a seat and began to observe my friends movements. "Nurse Amy paged me and said there was improvement and I cannot say I'm disappointed! This is a huge step forward! We are going to try to give her some new medicine to help awaken her body parts and help her move along maybe at a faster pace. Yes?", Dr.Martin asked. "Yes yes!", I replied, watching the nurse scurry out of the room to get the supplies. "Go get some rest Ms.Hale, come by tonight and Stevie may be awake!", the doctor said while leading me out of the room with his hand on the small of my back. "Uh-uh okay..", I stuttered, watching the nurse go back in the room and shut the door in my face.

   Ashley hasn't told me if she was on board with coming to the UK with me or not. She hasn't even called for a couple days, and I didn't want to bother her. You know, because she needs some space with her best friend in the hospital and all. But, I'm worried. I picked up my cell and started to dial Ashley's number when a loud pounding on my door began. I got up and opened the door. Ashley burst in, throwing herself in my arms. "Oh hey Ash!", I said taking her in my arms. "Ed! Stevie's making huge improvements! The doctor is trying something to help quicken her recovery! And that we can see her tonight!!", Ashley exclaimed, hugging me tighter. "That's great babe!!", I said pulling her off the ground and spinning her around. I placed her back on the ground and closed the door. Ashley and I made our way to the couch and sat down. 

   "Babe. You look a bit tired, wouldn't you like to rest?", I asked, softly touching the dark circles underneath her perfect eyes. She smiled weakly and gave me a slight nod. I chuckled, stood up and offered her my hand. Ashley took it and I lead her into my room. She jumped in crawling underneath the duvet. "Come on Ed, cuddle with me?", Ashley questioned. I blushed, climbing into bed with her. I took her in my arms and she immediately buried her face into my neck. Within minutes Ashley fell asleep. She did this cute little snoring thing when she was in a deep sleep. It wasn't loud, not one bit. I found it extremely adorable. I closed my eyes and took a little nap myself. 

BACK TO ASHLEY POV YAAAAA 

    I woke up tangled in Ed's arms. After a few seconds of struggling, I broke free. I checked my phone and it was 7:30 pm. I nudged Ed's arm, waking him up. "Oh hey babe.", Ed said in the most sexiest sleepy voice ever. "Come with me to check up on Stevie?", I giggled, brushing some hair out of his eyes. "Sure Ash!" We got out of bed hand in hand, and headed to the hospital. 

   When we arrived, Nurse Amy came up to me. "Someone wants to see you very badly Ms.Hale.", the nurse said, smiling from ear to ear. I dropped Ed's hand and ran down the hallway, bursting into Stevie's room. "Stevie!!!!", I screamed, running to give her a hug. She didn't hug me back. She just sat in my arms. Was she mad that I didn't stay until she woke? I pulled back to see a smiling Stevie. "Ashley! I'm so happy I'm alive!!", Stevie exclaimed. "Me too! But are you mad at me??", I questioned. She clearly saw the puzzled look on my face and understood why I was so confused. "Ashley. The reason why I didn't hug you back is because my body hasn't fully woke up yet. So I'm temporarily paralyzed. It'll go away in like a week or so. Trust me the doc said. Once my body wakes up, I'll just need some physical therapy. Then I'll be as good as ever!" 

   She knew me so well. "Okay Stevie. I believe you." I said. "Uh, sorry if I'm interrupting anything here but Ashley babe, I was wondering if you were hungry. I could go get us something really quick.", Ed said poking his head through Stevie's door. "Sure! Can you get me a salad? Thanks baby! ", I said. He nodded, then disappeared though the door. 

   "Sooooo, you and Ed? Babe and Baby are the names now, I guess. How's that going?", Stevie questioned, chuckling. I blushed, "We're doing good thanks. But can I ask you something?". "Of course love!" "Uh well. Ed leaves for a tour in a couple days and wants to bring me with him. And after his tour he's invited me to live with him in Suffolk back in England..." "Soo, what's the problem here?" "I can't leave you! I can't leave my best friend while she can't walk. I can't leave you in general." "But you want to go with him. Because you are really starting to like this kid. Maybe even love. Right?" "I mean yeah but you're important too!" "Follow your heart Ash. No matter what I'll always be here. Every step of the way. Even if you're in London and I'm in America. I'll be here. So now you have to tell Ed what you want. As soon as you can. And don't forget to follow your heart."

     I smiled, pulling Stevie in for a hug. "Thanks Stevie.", I said, extremely grateful. We were chatting when a knock on the door made me jump. "Come in!", Stevie said. Ed walked through, holding up a salad. "It's nice to see you Stevie. Glad you're doing well.", Ed said. "You too! And thanks!", Stevie said. She looked at me, giving me that look. I sighed, standing up. "I'm so happy you're doing well Stevie. But, we should be going, its almost 9 o'clock and you need to sleep.", I said, winking at my best friend. "Ugh whatever mama bear. Have a nice night guys!!", Stevie said smiling. Me and Ed walked out of the hospital, grabbing a taxi to get back to his place. 

  We walked in and I lead him to the couch. I sat him down and held his hands in mine. "Ed. I've made a decision.", I said. He looked confused. "I've decided I'm-".....
