It soon begins to lightning and I tell Luke it probably isn't the safest thing to be up here especially with the wind blowing faster and the rain hitting harder than before.
Luke leads me into a tall building and tells me to wait in the café area and that he'll be right back in a few minutes. I watch as he exits the building while a song by The Fray fills the small café.
Luke soon retunes with two towels.
"Here, I got them from the back of my car they come in handy huh?" He chuckles handing me the pink beach towel.
"Wow I like a man who just carries random pile of towels in the back of his car" I smirk and he laughs as he wraps the towel around himself.
"Nah not randomly really I have a few spares because when I go surfing sometimes I will forget to bring one so I just keep a few just in case" he winks at me and laugh.
"Want a giant cookie?" He asks
"Yeah but only on one condition..."
"What?" His eye brows raise as a small giggle falls from his lips.
"I'm paying this time!" I say getting out of my chair and walking up to the counter with Luke following behind as he sighs in defeat.
I buy a giant cookie for Luke and I to share and when were finish he takes my hand and tells me he wants to show me something.
He takes me into the elevator hitting the highest floor number it will allow which is the 42nd floor. It takes a few moments before we reach the floor when the elevator dings and the doors slide slowing us to enter the hall.
"Oooh what a beautiful hallway to show me!!" I joke and he laughs
"This isn't it follow me" Luke says leading me up a small stairwell. It takes about six flights of stairs until finally we reach another door.
"Okay okay close your eyes." Luke says and I do as he takes my hand to lead me somewhere.
"And No peaking" he says and I laugh but I don't peak.
"Okay" he sighs "open your eyes"
Woah. My jaw drops. This view is beautiful. You can see over the whole city from this roof top.
"Luke, this is beautiful!" I say as he smiles happy that I like it.
"I used come up here when my dad worked here just to get away I still love it here." He says as he sits by the edge. Thankfully there is another ledge so you would have to climb on that to fall.
"I can see why you like it up here it's beautiful" especially right now with the sun disappearing and the stars slowly coming through the dark sky. And it has stopped raining by now.
"So your dad worked here?" I ask and he nods.
"Yeah until he left us when I was fourteen" Luke scuffs.
"Aw Luke I'm sorry" I say sitting next to him looking at the beautiful buildings lights from the buildings around looking at the sea.
"It's fine he's a dick anyways he always fought with my mom and it's better this way" Luke says.
We sit in silence for a few minutes as we take in the view when I take a big gulp.
"He died in the 9/11 attack" I blurt and Luke looks at me confused
"What! Who?!" He asks
"My..my dad.." I say as I wait for tears to fall but they don't. I have cried them all out by now. I miss him but there is nothing I can do to bring him back.
