Words (A Marichat Fanfic)

Part 2

I ran to school, hoping to get there before class started to see Marinette. I got to the school grounds to see none of the students in the hallway, or at their lockers, they were in class. Of course I'm late, that gives my father another reason to hate me. I snuck into the classroom, hoping to avoid any attention, but all eyes were on me. Alya and Nino were glaring at me, and Marinette was completely avoiding eye contact. I gave a shy smile and walked to my seat, Nino continued to glare at me as I say down.

"Adrien, why are you late, again?" Mrs. Damocles asked. Everyone stared at me, a few whispered things- probably rumors- to each other.

"I slept in, sorry mrs., won't happen again" I said.

"It better not Mr. Agreste" she sighed before continuing to teach.

Nino nudged my shoulder and whisper shouted "What the hell dude?"

"What?" I asked, slightly annoyed, and completely confused. I didn't do anything wrong.

"I know what you said to Marinette bro, that was harsh" Nino said. Of course, the one thing I wanted to avoid today.

"I'm sorry, I was just really upset over what my dad said" I said with an innocent smile.

"Don't give me your fake smile, that doesn't work on me, and that is no excuse to talk to her like that" Nino snapped.

"I'm know" I sighed. "Does she hate me?" I asked although I was scared to know the answer.

"No, she's just really upset. She really like you, but I don't think you deserve her affection" Nino said before turning his attention to the paper the teacher handed out. Neither do I.

Marinette's pov

When class ended, I quickly gathered my stuff and left, hoping to avoid Adrien and his hurtful words. I ran to my locker, threw my stuff in, and turned around, hoping Alya was there so we could go to lunch, but instead it was him.

"Hey Mari" Adrien said as if yesterday he never hurt me. As if he never said any of those things. Or as if he didn't even care if I was hurt.

"Oh, h-hi Adrien" I stuttered.

"Sorry about yesterday, I was having a bad day" He said, offering an innocent smile.

"I-It's ok, I'm fine, I-I don't care" I lied. He looked at me skeptically before asking "Do you want to hang out after school with me and Nino?"

"Um, sure" I answered.

"Great, we will meet on the steps" Adrien said with a smile before walking off. Well that was weird. It seamed like he really wanted to hang out with me, which is weird for someone who yesterday hated me.

Adrien's pov

"I-It's ok, I'm fine, I-I don't care" Marinette said. What a liar. I know she's not ok, so why won't she tell me. I stared at her doubtfully.

"Do you want to hang out after school with me and Nino?" I asked hoping she will say yes so that I can hang out with her and maybe say the right words this time.

"Um, s-sure" she stuttered back.

"Great, we will meet on the steps" I said with a comforting smile before walking off to lunch.

I walked into the lunch room and spotted an angry Alya yelling at Marinette, and Nino just sitting there watching. As I walked over, all conversations stopped and Alya glared at me like she did in the morning.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked as I sat down next to Nino.

"You seriously don't know?" Alya snapped. Marinette covered her face with her hands as her face blushed a deep red. "You broke my girls heart!" Alya yelled, gaining everyone's attention. A few kids whispered and laughed, and everyone stared at Marinette. She ran off somewhere and Alya followed.

"I'm guessing Alya us mad at me" I said to Nino.

"Yeah, and good luck getting back on her good side, it's not easy" He replied before walking off, leaving me alone once again.

After last period ended I sat on the stairs and watched all the students run home through the rain that was pouring down hard. As the last few students left, I got up and started to walk home. She probably didn't want to hang out with me after what I said. I heard the faint sounds of foot steps behind me and I turned around to see her. She sighed as she saw the rain, but she didn't notice me yet.

Marinette's pov

I ran outside and sighed apon seeing the rain pouring against the hard cement. It's gonna be a long walk without an umbrella.

"Hey Mari" Someone said. I looked around until I saw Adrien.

"Oh, uh, h-hi Adrien" I stuttered.

"I was planning on going to the park, but since it's raining, it doesn't seem like that's gonna happen" Adrien said with a chuckle.

"I, uh, actually have to meet someone, so I'm gonna have to cancel our plans" I lied.

He held out his hand that held the black umbrella in it. I stared into his kind green eyes that stared back into mine. My eyes drifted down to his soft lips with a kind, sincere smile. Everything felt as if it was in slow motion from moment he held his hand out, to the moment I grabbed it and our hands made contact, and even when we stared into each others eyes for a few seconds that felt like an eternity.

"By the way, I didn't mean to be so rude yesterday. I really do like you, but I have eyes for someone else. I know I could have been nicer, but my father, he said he doesn't care about me, and I was really upset. I'm sorry." Adrien said. I sat stunned and didn't say anything as the blonde boy walked away.

I think I'm falling in love again.
