It was a year and a half after I'd been captured by Orochimaru, and I only knew because he liked to keep me updated. It was then that a strange man wearing a Konoha hitai-ate smashed through the wall across from my cell. Out of instinct, I scooted back into the corner that had become my safehaven. The shinobi blinked when his eye- as the other was covered, as well as over half his face- landed on me, but turned to face the end of the hall where Orochimaru stood.
I was conflicted, would it be safer to stay where I was? Orochimaru really hadn't bothered me much the past couple months, only taking blood samples once a week, and injecting me with more chakra. At first my body had rejected it, but eventually I became used to it, and it didn't bother me.
Was I really so afraid that I would rather stay with the snake, though? I turned away from the battling shinobi, the sound of metal on metal, and metal on flesh filling my ears. I had to concentrate.
Orochimaru had killed my family, yes, but I had no idea how the Konoha shinobi would treat me. Would he just assume I'm too far gone and just leave me?
I hadn't noticed the sounds of battle stopping, or Orochimaru's chakra disappear until a warm hand settled on my shoulder.
Hesitantly, I turned around, meeting the eye of my silver haired saviour.
"Tell me, what's you name?" He asked, the corners of his eye crinkling in what I assume was a smile.
"Y-Yumi. Yumi Akimura." I said quietly, wincing as my voice cracked slightly.
"Well, I am Kakashi Hatake. I'm going to take you to Konoha." There was no, 'do you want to?' or even a 'you don't mind, right?' just a 'this is what's happening.' Nevertheless, I nodded, standing from my place on the floor.
Almost immediately, my legs gave out, and I would've fallen to the floor had he not caught me. Instead of helping me stand, and then walk, he just lifted me up before maneuvering me so that I was on his back.
And then, under the cover of darkness, we were off, heading to Konohagakure.
Time Skip
I attempted to ignore the glares and whispers of the civilians, removing my arms from around Kakashi-san and covering my ears. I couldn't take it. Did they think that I'd wanted this? It's not like I could change it.
Right?
I realized that I'd tightly glued my eyes shut when I felt Kakashi-san set me down on the ground.
"I apologise for their behaviour, Yumi." He sighed.
I blinked my now open eyes, staring at him in confusion. Why was he apologising for other people? "It's fine." I whispered.
Then he turned me to face an old man sitting behind a large desk. The stranger smiled in a soft, grandfatherly kind of way, and I found myself smiling back. "Hello, child. Tell me your name, please?"
"I'm Yumi Akimura." I answered quietly, not meeting his eyes.
"Ah, I see. Well, I'm Hiruzen Sarutobi." I practically choked when I heard it. This man, soft as he seemed, was the Sandaime Hokage. He could kill me where I stand if he wants.
Well, hope you guys like it, I'd make it longer, but I can't think of anything else to write.
Bye~
