TWO - I Got Chosen for What Now?!

Today's the day.

My grey eyes shoot open and I roll out of bed, bringing my blanket with me by accident. I untangle myself from my blanket and quickly get dressed and ready for the big day. I put on purple pants and a grey shirt.

There is a knock on my door and Emily pokes her head in. "Misty, you ready? We're going to be late!"

"What?!" I yelp. I look at my clock. It is eleven fifty exactly. The ceremony starts at twelve. "Oh, gee!" I grab my boots, slipping one on and hopping towards Emily while trying to put the other one on. I stumble a bit, Emily catches me and helps me regain my balance. Once balanced I nod to Emily and we both run down the stairs, and out of the girl's dormitory.

Emily and I get to the center of the village, where the ceremony is being held, just on time. We meet up with Max, who has save us two seats, and all sit and wait for our names to be called.

"Welcome, crafters," Mayor Bracnor calls to everyone, "to the annual coming of age ceremony!" There is a roar of cheers and yells. "All right, settle down." Mayor says. The crowd settles down and he continues:

"You all know how this works," Mayor says, "We will call the names of all the young crafters that have become of age. When your name is called you will come up to the front and be assigned your designated job. Once assigned to a job you must stick to it unless told otherwise by one of higher class. Understood? Good let's get started!"

Mayor is handed a list of names. He reads the first name. "First one up: Serena Allen." the crowd starts to clap. Mayor gestures for them to quiet down as a girl walks up to the front.

She looks to be of a lower class. She has long cocoa-brown hair that curls at the tips and light green eyes that sparkle with innocence. She has on a yellow sun dress with brown boots.

Serena looks up at Mayor Bracnor. Mayor smiles down at her.

"Miss Serena Allen," He says. Serena has a nervous look as she waits for her job. "You have been chosen for farming."

A look of relief spreads across her face. She smiles and bows to Mayor "Thank you Mayor." she says. Mayor smiles and Serena runs happily back to her seat.

"Alright next name!" Mayor calls.

Young crafters went up one by one as I waited for my name. They were in the M's now. Emily would be up soon, for her name was Emily McBride. She is right after Jonathan Maiyor, who is up now, so Emily is next.

"You ready?" I ask Emily.

She nods nervously. Her name is called and she walks up to the front.

She stands in front of Mayor and awaits her job.

"Emily," Mayor says, "you have been chosen for..."

I lean forward on my seat. Max has to hold me so I don't fall off.

"Hunting."

A huge smile forms on Emily's face. "Yes!" she cheers, "Thank you Mr. Mayor!" she shakes his hand excitedly before running back to her seat next to me and Max.

"Congratulations!" Max cheers.

Emily kicks her feet in her air. A huge grin is plastered on her face.

More names pass. More crafters are assigned jobs. Yada yada.

Max is next. He takes a deep breath and waits for his name.

"You got this buddy!" Emily says.

Max smiles at her.

"Maxwell Sanchez." Mayor Bracnor calls.

Max takes another breath and walks to the front. Mayor smiles at him. "Maxwell," he says. Max has an anxious look on his face. "You have been chosen to be..." Max holds his breath. "A Monster Slayer."

A look of surprise spread across Max's face.

"Congratulations."

A grin forms on Max's face. "Thank you Mayor Bracnor!" he says, "I'll be the best Monster Slayer this village has ever seen!"

The crowd cheers their approval. Max runs back to his seat.

I give him a mall glare as he comes over.

"Jealous?" He teases. He smirks at me.

"I hate you so much right now." I joke.

"Hey, don't hate," he says, "Who knows? Maybe you'll get something cool too."

I grunt and wait for my name

"Misty Sanford."

I tense up, forgetting I came right after Max.

"Get something good!" Max says as I stand up and walk over to the front. I can feel everyone's eyes on me as I step forward. I stop in front of Mayor and look up at him

"Misty," he says. I hear my heart pound in my ear, I hope I'll be able to hear him. "You have been chosen for..." I hold my breath.

"Dungeon Explorer."
