A few days passed. Draco and Hermione hadn't shown each other their chosen attires. Draco had been busy preparing for his proposal. Today was 'The Day' when he would finally propose marriage to the love of his life. They were sitting on the couch together in front of the fire after coming back from lunch.
"You're lost in your thoughts most of the time. What is wrong, Drake?" Hermione asked soothingly yet full of concern and worries. She had her hands draped over his toned torso where her nimble fingers drew imaginary patterns on the fabric of his shirt.
"Nothing to worry about. I was just retrospecting. How things changed in just a matter of a few months. I was also contemplating our future, our family, our children and our careers. Basically everything. And talking about the future, we haven't seen the tattoos in the last few weeks." he said and stood up, gently pushing Hermione to the side. He then took off his shirt and heard Hermione involuntarily let out a tiny gasp in utter surprise.
He turned around and faced her. Her mouth was agape and she met his eyes. He walked towards the couch where she was standing almost still like a statue. He was a bit worried seeing that Hermione Granger was speechless. It's a rare occasion that she is just speechless.
"What is it Hermione? What froze you?" Draco asked gently stroking her cheek and the pushing her jaw up. She snapped back into her senses and blushed beet red.
Draco was amused at this reaction and was about to say a witty remark when she spoke."Children-I mean-cubs-sorry, I mean the cubs representing our future children. There are 4 cubs on your back along with the tigress." She spoke rather quickly which amused Draco even more. He caught onto her words well and let it sink. He was now grinning wildly, and started laughing.
"It's so darn creepy, Draco. Knowing you would have 4 children when you are just 19 is not everyone can take in easily. There's nothing to laugh so much. How am I going to handle all this?I don't know what will happen when they grow up-"
"Easy love. Calm down. We have all the time in the world to think about it later. I know it's creepy and crazy as well knowing that I am going to father 4 children. Even I am 19. Let's just relax and I am sorry. It was my idea to see the tattoo. I am so sorry Herm-" Draco couldn't complete his blabbering as he was silenced by her sweet little kiss. Nothing but just a sweet one with all the feelings. He kissed her back.
They broke apart but their foreheads were still touching each other. They both stood there in silence, Their arms wrapped around each other.
"I am sorry Draco, it was my mistake. I over reacted. Sorry.." She broke the silence and hugged him tightly as though her life depended on it.
Draco hugged her back and was now gently stroking her hair, a gesture she had begun to love and this made her calm, the adrenaline from the anxious rant ebbing away."It's alright dear. Now let's just get ready for the Ball and then head downstairs. Together, hand in hand" he said smiling. He gently pulled away and went to his part of the closet in their room. He had charmed her gown so that Hermione wouldn't see it unless he gave it to her. Hermione came into the room and opened her closet to retrieve his tuxedo inspired ensemble. Lucius had sent her the gift. She took that out as well. They both turned towards each other with their bags and their gifts. Draco had secretly purchased a diamond necklace and a pair of earrings to match her gown.
"Ladies first!" Draco said and handed her the bag containing her dress and matching jewellery. She took it eagerly and started looking at it in excitement almost forgetting his gift and suit.
