Just like reverence for sacred things, cleanness is exactly what you'd think it mean. For a DeMolay, cleanness means pureness of body, soul, and mind so that we would not be corrupt and unclean like the evil that resides in the world. Being clean is one of the most demanded things of a DeMolay. In our speech we must not be fouled of mouth and must not take the names of anyone's god in vain. These are signs of cleanness in a DeMolay.
