The last head of the Knights Templar is Jacques De Molay. King Philip of France became angry at the Knights because they had much power over france and parts of the holy land. Many Knights were forced into hiding because of discrimination of the people and oppression by authorities. Abducted by King Philip, Jacques De Molay was held in court for treason and many other made up laws against him. Four of his closest and trusted friends were with him to be sentenced the same. Obviously, it was not a court. It was a meeting with King Philip himself to force De Molay into telling him where the rest of the Knights were so he could kill them. Jacques was tortured, beaten, offered huge amounts of the Kings fortune, and eventually, burned at the stake because he loved his brothers and would never betray them.

De Molay was murdered and so were his closest friends. King Philip never found the rest of the Templars and they fled to Scotland to become the Scottish rite branch of Masonry. Because of his loyalty, friendship, and comradeship, that is why the DeMolay are called what they are. We are to live like Jacques De Molay because of his love for his brothers.
