"Will you two please stop fighting with each other?!" You yelled at them both. Basch and Roderich glanced over at you. Basch had his fist raised and Roderich's face was crimson from his yelling. They had been like this all day. You were on the verge of a breakdown. It was probably your fault that they were like this. You were the one who invited them shopping with you and then invited them to yours for dinner afterwards. You knew they couldn't stick being around each other. If only it could be like before. It started when they were best friends. Honestly, nobody had ever seen two boys so close, some mistook them as brothers sometimes. You sighed at how the times have changed in six months. They both liked the same girl, she was new to the class. She obviously knew this and played them both off against each other. She'd message them both sweet nothings daily and they'd follow her every word like their lives depended on it. She was pretty. You'll give her that at least. She just ripped apart what you guys had. You three had always been the closest in the class and suddenly one day they broke out into a fight. The girl had both sent them a text. The one said "Basch is getting in the way of us xx", that was what Roderich showed you. He didn't explain this to Basch. Basch recieved a message saying, "If we want this to happen Roderich needs to be out the picture xx". Again he refused to explain to Rod. You tried to explain to them but it just got worse and worse. It ended with you flinging yourself in the middle and getting hit by both of them. Accidentally of course. The bruises hurt but the emotional pain felt like it was ripping you in two. For months they tried to make you choose between them. Why the hell did you have to choose? Neither of them got the girl and they were slowly losing you in the process. They were just too arrogant to realise. For four months you picked up the pieces and slotted them together like a jigsaw. It hurt you so much but it was somewhat worth it. You could hang out with them both again. Just not a the same time. That's what hurt the most. They weren't even the same as before. Both always had a chip on their shoulder. Roderich would talk about how bad Basch was and then Basch would come to you saying the same things about Roderich. They had hurt your feelings more than any one else ever had. Then to top it all off they took it out on you when the other made them mad. It just wasn't fair. Well, how could it be? They were too wrapped up in the past to even notice you or your feelings and it made you feel insane. Nobody else could see what was going on. It made you want to flip out sometimes. Like right now. You could hit them both.
"You invited us both, blame yourself." Basch growled at you. You'd had enough.
"Blame me for what Basch? Trying to fix the mess she created?" You hung on the word 'she'.
"Yea Basch, don't take it out on (Y/N)." Roderich snapped.
"Roderich it's your problem too! You both created this. I've been trying to fix this for almost half a year now and you are both so full of yourselves and self fed on pride to even notice! I don't see why I bother anymore. She's ruined us and you're both too arrogant to realise. Neither of you got her. What is there to fight over now? Why can't we go back to how it was?" You felt the soft sting of tears roll down your cheeks. Nothing you say seems to get through to them. It seemed like forever whilst they stared at you. You were right. They hadn't realised. Too arrogant to even try confront her in the first place. They both stared at you blankly before Basch spoke up again.
"I'm sorry (Y/N)... but it's not going to happen. This can't be fixed..."
At that sentence you broke. You almost snapped as you glared at them. The tears came down faster and heavier. Just like the truth. For them this was easy. They played along with you. letting you think there was something worth saving. There never was. Clearly. You choked on your own words. They rang in your ears. 'Too arrogant to realise'. You were so caught up in this. Trying to make it work. Trying to save the what couldn't be salvaged. Thinking you knew better than them. Thinking you could save what had been thrown away. They hadn't tried in the hope of letting you find out on your own. They hadn't told you because they knew it would ruin you. The tears began to prick at your face like acid. You began to feel desolate and cold. Their blank faces burning you up inside. They couldn't even make the effort to comfort you.
"Get out, now!" You yelled at them, they grabbed their things and made thier way to the door and gave one last look back. You spluttered the last word as they shut the door. You keeled over yourself and hammered at the floor. You'd lost the two friends that had meant the most to you before you even knew they didn't care anymore.
