I was sitting in science with this boy named Bishop, we were at one of the back tables and it was only us two sitting at this four person desk. I was sitting in the table across from Juliette and occasionally we'd both look and smile at each other or make silly face, but she didn't seem too into it today. We were both working silently, as was the class besides the table that always talks, when Bishop leaned over to get my help on a question on the work sheet we were doing. "Hey, do you understa-" "PJ! Stop talking!"

Mr. Weitz stood up and crossed to the back of the room, all eyes were on either him or me. "Bishop, move to another table please." Bishop quietly collected his things and moved to the table next to ours. I mumbled "whatever" under my breath, but as the teacher was walking by he heard me mumble. "What was that PJ?" "Nothing" I responded, both terrified and mad that he had tried to isolate me to my own table. Just then somebody raised their hand at the table Juliette was sitting at and his attention shifted over there. "Wait for me out in the hallway please, PJ." He looked me directly in the eye, but I could tell he wasn't going to do anything. "No, thank you." I replied and tried looking back down at my work, but he had other plans.

"Go and stand in the hallway, I'll be out once I'm finished helping this student." He was getting frustrated. "I don't want to talk to you." The last bit of terror had faded and now I was just down right angry. "Go outside, now!" He was practically yelling, but I wasn't ready to back down. "What part of I don't want to talk to you' do you not understand?"

"You have 5 seconds to go into the hallway before I write you." He said this in a quiet voice and I knew if I pushed a little harder that I would make him burst. So I did. I stood up and started walking towards the door, but turned back before I exited and looked him dead in the eyes. "Whatever." And that was all it took. "Get out into the hallway now! There will be no more discussion." But by the time I heard this, the door had already closed behind me.

I waited a minute or two and he came out the door I had gone through. "What is your problem?" I could see he had calmed down slightly, but that he was still mad, and there was something else. Exhaustion. "You can't isolate me to my own table."

"I can very well do what I want, and if I want to isolate you to your own table, I will."

"You seriously made Bishop drag his chair to the edge of the desk, because there aren't any more seats in the class besides at my desk."

With each word I said it was like a ton of bricks was being laid on him. He was no longer mad, he was tired. "Fine." He finally said. "You can have Bishop, Mallory, and Emma at your desk. Three of your friends I believe, but Juliette is to not be seen at your desk unless during free time, or working with partners. Understand?" I just nodded, I almost added thank you but he was already walking through the door, and I didn't think he quite deserved a thank you yet.

It was the end of science and we had a minute until the bell to dismiss us rang, and Juliette was at my table. Technically we weren't breaking rules because it was free time. The second we walked out of the classroom, she stopped me and Emma who was also with us, and exclaimed how insane I was.

"What?" I asked, but I knew exactly what she was talking about.

"You sassing the teacher, that's what!"

"Look, Bishop looked awkward sitting at the edge of that table with all the girls." Juliette just looked at me like there was something I wasn't telling her. "So maybe I was also hoping to get you back at my desk but I had to compromise."

This is when Emma jumped into our conversation and said "Hey, what about me?"

"Oh please, I knew he would let me have you at my table, you do all your work and are doing amazing in all of your classes. Plus he likes you."
