Chapter 12 || Like Hot Pink Would Even Look Good On you

"What the hell is this?" I said, upon spotting my recently ex-girlfriend in the arms of Ethan. They stare at me in total shock, before breaking apart, and looking at each other with guilt clear on their faces. I'm about to start screaming when Bryan pulls me back by the arm.

"You shouldn't be talking. Don't forget why we came up here. Now, shut up and fess up or this is over before it started," he whispered through narrowed eyes.

"Never mind. Sorry to interrupt," I watch as Ethan and Anna share a look of confusion. "Um—I—we have something to tell you both and Celsey, whenever we find her," I mumbled.

Bryan picked up where I left off, "What he's trying to say is that long story short, Emmett is—" I cut him off.

"I'm gay," I say for the first time out loud. Looking at my friend's faces for their reactions, Anna seems shocked and hurt, and Ethan face has remained neutral. Did he know? No. Couldn't have.

"Did I—are you gay because of me?" Anna asked irrationally. Great. I have to now explain my douche moves to her. Ethan looked at me with an expression that read something like 'if you say anything to crush her, I will crush you.'

"No, Anna, I used you and I'm so so sorry. I knew I was different a few months before I started dating you. I was confused and frustrated with myself. I thought it would be easier if I had a girlfriend, who loved me, and I loved in return, but I never loved you like that. I love you as a sister and best friend, so all that did was make me depressed. I'm so so sorry for tangling you up in this. I was going to tell you sooner and call it off, but my parents love and adore you, so I couldn't. There you go that's the full story. You had nothing to do with it; all me. And Anna, I'm truly sorry."

"Thanks for the honesty. I'm sorry you were so confused, but I wish you would have told me, or trusted me. Instead of using me like that, you were and are my friend, but I just need to do one thing," she said walking up to me. I didn't even see her left her hand until it was making contact with my cheek.

"Damn, Anna!" I exclaimed, shocked more than anything.

"Okay, now we are good," she laughed. When she saw my face she said, "Hey, you did pretend to be my boyfriend for over a year and then broke up with me, so yeah."

"Anna, I hate myself for the way I treated you."

She shrugged a little, but gave me a smile to know we're still good. Gosh. I truly don't deserve her. Yeah, my face may be slightly pink, but I got my friend back. Trying to get us completely back on track, I look over at Bryan before saying, "But I'm not the only one—" Bryan cleared his throat to shut me up.

"I know this is a lot to take in, but Emmett and I," he said taking my hand in his, "are kind of—" he didn't even have to finish before Anna screamed and rushed over to us, throwing her arms around us.

"Awe, I'm so happy for you two!"

"Thanks," we said together, looking at each other over her shoulder.

When she released us and stepped back, Ethan came over to stand by her. He obviously has not forgiven me yet, and I don't blame him.

"That's great," he said, giving us each a quote on quote man hug. "But if either one of you try to get me into hot pink, we are no longer hanging out," he laughed.

"Oh, please like hot pink would even look good on you," Bryan said at the same time I said, "Not everyone, who's gay likes hot pink." We looked at each other and started busting up. Soon Anna and Ethan were laughing with us.

When we sobered up a bit. I told them how much we wanted to dance, but weren't ready to be open about our relationship, they agreed to dance with us, and down the stairs we all went. I saw Ethan slyly slinging his arm around Anna's neck, before she nudged him in the chest. I always thought those two would be cute together.
