When I woke up in the morning, it was already light outside. The golden swirls of light, floated into the room. Landing peacefully like a cloud on the walls.
Te room felt smaller to me, since I was alone. Something had woken me up what was it?
I then noticed the distant ringing. I thought it was in my head but then I noticed it was just the phone.
I dragged my feet to the phone and picked it up.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Hey Charlie, it's John. You have to come quick. Little girl is lost, it's our turn to find those killing beasts."
"Ya, alright, I'll be there in ten minutes."
I hung up the phone and ran upstairs to the bathroom. I readied myself then drove over to the station. It didn't take long because of how small and close this town is.
When I walked throu the door I noticed johns face. On the phone he sounded like himself but now I see he is terrified. I give him a small smile, at he doesn't seem to take notice.
We walk silently out and try to find the little girl. I was given a brief description of the little girl, and how she got there.
She has blond, curly hair. She is nine years old and verÿ tiny. She was wearing a bug puffy jacket and jeans with white light up shoes.
She ran away to get away from something. No one knows what she was running from. The thought frightens me. But I don't say anything, or do anything. I stay expressionless.
Not more then five minutes later, we find her dead body. We don't understand it but she is half drained of blood. And there is a trail of blood following it.
I felt a presence next to me. Ten a shift in the air. I turned and saw that John was gone.
"John?" I called out.
My voice seemed to trail on forever but there was no answer. I cautiously stepped away from the girl and noticed a drip of blood on the tree. It looked fresh, it couldn't have been the girls.
How did I not notice anything? There was no struggle he just left. I followed some weird tracks and found John. He was laying on his back, looking up. His eyes wide open, like his mouth.
He could have been asleep. But I know he wasn't. Even with his eyes closed, ere is just something about everyone at you can event el, from a distant to know, they are definitely dead.
I didn't feel the surge to cry. I didn't really feel anything but confusion. Yes, he is my coworker but I don't feel a lost.
I was just standing there, watching him. I guess iwas hoping he would get up. He never did. That's when I noticed a cry. It was something not human.
I was on my guard now. I noticed I was near Billy's house. I steppe dout into the clearing. We, I was alone, I reminded myself, I was at the back porch of Billy's house.
In the corner I saw a wolf, it was huge and a light brown. A honey, hazel color. The eyes turned toward me. The wolf didn't make a move toward me, nor did it look threatening. But I still tensed.
I gripped my gun and brought it toward me. Te wolf eyed the gun nd snarled. I pressed my finger against the trigger still jot pressing it. The wolf turned its back to me.
It was my only shot. I was about to shoot when I was knocked down.
"Stop! Don't kill my son!"
Is this man crazy? I thought. His voice sounded faguily familiar. I turned and my head throbbed. I had hit my head on a sharp rock. I felt the blood oozing down, blurring my vision.
"Billy?" I asked.
"Charlie, come inside. Here is something I have to tell you."
