MADDY

I was trying to act confident but my heart was beating so fast I thought I might pass out. My stomach felt as if it was filled with a million butterflies, all flying round exploring the ins and outs of my organ.

I was excited to see him, of course I was but also too nervous.

I had spent hours before running through possible situations in my head and what I'd do in them.

What if he doesn't want to see me? Gleam might of told them I was interviewing him and he could refuse to come, leave me standing in this clammy room until one of the people working came in to tell me it was all off. I'd then be flown straight back to where I came from, I wouldn't have a job and I'd be miserable.

The truth is, one of the things keeping me happy was the idea that I could pick any day, grab my old phone and fly straight back to London. It had become a solid back up plan in my mind for if anything went wrong at home. I would ring Joe from the middle of somewhere fancy like Soho and he'd be straight there, ready to whisk me back to wherever he was living these days so we could be together again.

Thinking Joe would still love me when I returned kept me sane.

'English weather never did improve, eh?' I said to him as he walked into the small room.

His eyes met mine and I swear behind the blueness, I saw something. A spark of relief, or regret - I didn't know. But I saw something.

'You've been to England before?' Joe's manager asked nicely as she began faffing around, pulling chairs out and writing on her clipboard. She hadn't noticed the way Joe had stopped dead in his tracks and was staring at me, probably in a similar way to the way I first stared at Gabby the day I last saw Joe.

'Yes, I spent 6 magical months here.' I told her, trying to ignore my heart thumping in my chest as I didn't break the contact Joe and I had formed with our eyes.

'That's nice! Did you come to London at all?'

'Could you give us a minute alone, please?' Joe asked her, finally looking away from me.

'But we have such a tight schedule? The office is going to be shutting in 15 minutes and we need to discuss everything that's happening tomorrow!' She whined.

'Fine.' Joe replied, taking a seat next to her at the table. I walked around to the other side and took a seat opposite his manager, trying to ignore him staring at me.

'So, Maddy is it?'

'Yes.' I said, still feeling incredibly nervous, I could barely even think about the article I had to write.

'Joe, you need to be ready for 8am tomorrow and Maddy, a car will be picking you up at 7:30. We've already written a schedule for you Joe, so you will do what we tell you to so Maddy can write about it.'

'Oka-' Joe went to say, but I cut him off.

'No, actually - a schedule won't be necessary. This is the real day in the life of Joe Sugg, not a day that his management have planned for him. This article is about Joe, not you guys.' I said, before even thinking about what I was saying. His manager's face dropped in shock but I could see Joe smirking. I didn't mean to be rude to her, of course I didn't.

'I'm sorry.. I didn't mean it like that, it just slipp-'

'No, you're right. I get it, you want this to be real.' She smiled, scrunching the piece of paper up.

'I just don't think there's any point otherwise.' I admitted.

'I get it. However, that means you two need to sort out your own arrangements and we're going to have to start closing up so it's going to have to be quick.'

'It's fine, we can talk about it over dinner. Right, Maddy?' Joe asked, looking more nervous than I'd ever seen him before.'

'Yeah, good idea.' I agreed.

'Are you sure?' His manager said worriedly, looking between the two of us. She obviously had no clue who I was.

'Yes, you need to close up so we wouldn't have enough time here. We do have a lot to talk about.' He said, avoiding looking at me and putting so much emphasis on a lot, it made me want to get under the conference table and never go back out.

Thank you so so so much to everyone who made covers for this book, I loved them all - they were all so lovely! However, I have chosen Yasmin's to be the official cover.

They were all honestly so nice but I saw Yasmin's and thought it would go so well with the original's cover.
