Chapter 24

(The Tribunal)

Logan was not pleased as he stood waiting outside the Hearing Room doors. He had wanted Lucas to make the most of the last two days but it hadn’t happened. The Tribunal had ruled Lucas could not be alone with Tori before the initial hearing. In fact he wasn’t even permitted around her except during dinner, and only because everyone was present.

The former heir to the throne huffed as he waited for Lucas to finish answering any questions the Tribunal had.Logan was already miffed that they were going to question him over the fact Tori didn’t know he was a werewolf. He had Warner to thank for that.

“Prince Lucas, you are aware you are expected to answer any and all questions are you not?” Prince Pierre questioned.

“I am,” The blonde haired man replied facing the Tribunal spread out before him in a crescent shape. Seated ready to judge were 11 princes. Lucas knew no matter what they asked or said he needed to be calm and answer any questions.

“Then we shall begin,” The French man announced. “Prince Adler I believe you have the first question for our High Prince.”

“I do,” He replied. “Did you purposely keep the fact you are a werewolf from Miss Rhodes?”Prince Adler openly questioned.

“No. I honestly thought she knew. I never hid it from her,” Lucas assured the men before him. He’d been more than a little surprised by the question. ‘She didn’t know?’ He thought to himself.

There was no doubt in Renzo’s mind that Lucas truly believed she knew. Logan he would question but Lucas was not a Liar. It was obvious the High Prince had been caught off guard by the question. Warner would not be pleased; it wasn’t intentional so the Tribunal would move forward.

Over the next hour Lucas answered questions over any relations he had had with other women during his separation from Tori. He had maintained only platonic or transactional relations leaving things still in his favor. He had not had intercourse with any woman. If he had his claim could’ve been argued invalid. Lucas had been very careful.

“Would you be pursuing Miss Rhodes if she were not planning to marry River Marks?” Pierre inquired. He knew the Prince had already been in the works to obtain Tori of course but as a formality the tribunal had to ask.

Lucas looked at the brown haired man. “River shouldn’t have been seeing her in the first place. I had already claimed her. River or no River I have every intention of marrying Tori. She’s the reason I worked so hard to gain approval to marry a half wolf. Tori’s the woman I want to marry that could one day be queen.”

Lucas frowned for a moment. “It’s a known fact that Maylene cannot have more children. The loss of her and Logan’s child is very unfortunate. As such we all know that Maylene can never be queen. A woman that cannot produce an heir can never rule by our laws. Logan chooses to stay with the woman he loves and I support that. Not because I want to be king but because they love each other very much.”

The blonde man looked around at the different lords. “I came back here to secure the ability for Tori because I knew I would surpass my brother and would need approval for her to be queen. Tori is a wonderful woman. She will be an excellent Queen; even Logan agrees on that.”

“Thank you Prince Lucas, we are finished with you for now.” Lucas gave a nod and left the room.

Prince Pierre looked around at the other Tribunal Members. “Does anyone question his honesty?”
