I was abandoned by my parents as a kid. They kept on saying that I was a cursed child and that I would only bring misery to the people around me. I was forced to live alone on the streets for a couple of years. Relying on the people that would pass by, for food, water, blankets or money. That's how I was forced to live for three years. Always had to move town or part of the town because if I didn't people would get suspicious and would only ignore me and give me dirty looks. I learned that soon enough. The parents would whisper to their children while looking at me. Not very discreet, nor original because they would all say the same things... "Don't look at her, if you look at her in the eyes you'll get bad luck" or "if you don't listen you will end up like her". It was discouraging because it's not like I asked for this to happen to me, I didn't ask my parents to abandon me. I didn't even do anything to deserve it. The only explanations I ever got out of my parents were that I was a cursed child and that I didn't deserve to have a caring family, at one point I overheard my dad talking to my mom saying that I didn't deserve to live. I didn't know what that meant because I was only five years old at the time, but now that I think about it, now I know exactly the meaning of it, and I now realize that I'm better off on the streets then with them.I still remember it like it was yesterday, when I was seven years old, a middle aged women came out of the grocery store that I was hanging around for the time being. She looked at me for a couple of seconds and then, continued walking. It didn't seem out of the ordinary because nobody paid attention to me. About an hour later, a truck parked in the spot the closest to where I was. It took me a few moments to recognize the black coat that I saw earlier. I looked up saw the same face that I saw an hour earlier. She looked at me with a big smile.
-I'm glad to see that you're still here, she started saying.
It took me a few moments to realize that she was talking to me. It was the first time that someone talked to me in a while.
-Get in, she continued with the same smile.
-Where are you taking me...?
-Well that's a dumb question, I'm taking you home, of course if that's ok with you.
I didn't answer, don't know why but she continued driving. She asked me questions along the way, like about my parents and any relatives that I could call. Nothing seemed special nor suspicious so I told her my story, at least the part that I knew. I soon realized that she ran an orphanage. When I walked in there were a dozen kids in the living room. The room was very colorful and there were a lot of drawings, done by the kids, on the walls. As far as I knew it was a typical orphanage, but then again I never visited another orphanage before. I started asking the kids why they were here, most of them were under six years old so obviously they didn't know. But when I asked Yuu, he said that his parents abandoned him to and that they kept on saying that he was not worthy of having a caring family and bla bla bla. Basically he had the same story as me. At first I didn't trust anybody, but after a few months we all got along. It's like they were always saying, we are one big happy family. I didn't really understand that until that cursed day.
On October 14 2127, we heard a little girl's voice speaking through the radio. She was saying that she, with the help of others, spread a virus through out the world, that was already mostly destroyed because of all the wars and the miss calculations while inventing new technology. At first I don't think anybody believed her. Like seriously who would believe a little girl saying that she spread a virus that would kill everybody. You would have to be really gullible to believe that story, she should have at least hired an adult to make that prank just a little bit more believable. But we were all fools to not believe it, just a few moments after she finished that sentence, people started falling to the ground all around us. As we started running towards the orphanage, the girl said that the virus didn't affect children under thirteen years old. She continued by saying not to resist and to go with the people that are chasing them because only children under the age limit and a few people over it, will survive. When we walked in, we were so glad to find Mrs. Miller still standing and greeting us like always with a big smile. We all went to give her a hug when suddenly, we heard glass shattering and someone kicking the door down. Then Mrs. Miller fell down and died right in front of us. We looked at where where the noise was coming from. At first we didn't see anything, but then two human shaped figures started to sculpt them selfs in the obscure night. When they came out of the shadows, all we saw were their bright red eyes glowing in the night. We were paralyzed with fear and basically let them take us away. We didn't know what they wanted with us nor who they were, but in any case it would have to be better than staying, because after all, there is nowhere else to go and no one waiting for us anymore.
