Just because today is his last day💞
Lin's POV
BEEP, BEEP, BEEP! The sound of my alarm clock woke me up. I rolled over and groaned, hitting the snooze button. Today's the day, I thought to myself. The day that I have been dreading for weeks. Today was Jonathan Groff's last day as King George. I stretched, climbed out of bed, careful not to wake my wife, then started to get ready for my day. While I was getting ready, the only thing I could think about was how hard it is going to be saying goodbye to Jonathan. He was one of my best friends since the start of Hamilton and it's going to be so much different without him. I mean sure, Rory is a great guy, super nice, talented, and funny but there is only one Groffsauce and it is hard to have to replace him. I finished getting ready, ate a quick breakfast, then went off to my last performance with Jonathan. I walked inside the theater and made my way over to Jonathan's dressing room. I found him in there packing the last of his stuff. I took a deep breath and lightly knocked on the door.
"I'm really gonna miss you, ya know." I said walking into the nearly empty room.
"Ugh, Lin don't get me started." Jonathan said walking over and giving me a quick hug. We talked for a few minutes, then we had to go get ready for the show.
I finished putting on my costume for the first scene then sat and started flipping through the pictures on my phone of all of the memories and adventures I have had with Jonathan.
"Hey Lin. Five minutes!" Jonathan said walking into my dressing room. "You okay?" He came in and sat next to me on the couch.
"Yeah I'll be fine. It's just hard to say goodbye to one of your best friends."
"Hey, this isn't even close to goodbye." He smiled at me and we walked to the stage door.
"Break a leg, Groffsauce. Knock 'em dead." I said and headed backstage. The opening number started and I began living the story of Alexander Hamilton for the audience. As the show went on, I decided that it was Jonathan's best show yet. It was going to be so different without our original King George. Before I knew it, he was taking his final bow. The crowd was going insane! Most were cheering, some were crying.
"Great show buddy!" I said after the curtains closed. I could feel the lump rising in my throat. No Lin. You are not going to cry.
"I can't believe it's over." He said. We both parted ways and went into our dressing rooms. After I was out of my costume and took all of my stage makeup off there was a knock at my door.
"Can I come in?" Jonathan's voice came from the other side of the door. I opened the door and he walked in.
"God, I'm gonna miss you."he said. I could tell he was trying not to cry. I made my way over to him and hugged him. I can't believe this is going to be the last time for a while that I get to see my best friend.
"I'm gonna miss you too Groffsauce. Promise we will hang out sometime?" He nodded.
"I'll see you on the other side." He said.
"Till we meet again." I replied. And with that, he was gone.
