Theodosia's POV
"Philip, can you please tell me where we are going?" I begged.
"Nope! It's a surprise!" He said as he continued pulling me along.
"Philly, people are going to think you're kidnapping me!" I said referring to the blindfold over my eyes. He laughed at me and continued guiding me to our destination. The journey was a peaceful silence. Even without talking, being with Philip made me feel complete. No one in the world could make me feel the way he did. Even though our parents did not approve at all, I loved him and I never wanted to be anywhere else.
"Okay, Theodosia. We're here." The perfect voice of Philip Hamilton broke my thoughts. Before I took off the blindfold I wrapped my arms around him.
"What was that for?" He asked.
"Nothing. I just love you." I said blushing.
"I love you too, beautiful. Now take the blindfold off." I did what I was instructed and untied the piece of fabric. I looked at my surroundings. We were in the middle of a large open field with a wooded area around us.
"What are we doing here?" I asked.
He smiled and said "I thought we could lay here and watch the sunset together." He set up a blanket and we had a picnic before sunset. Every time I looked at Philip he looked really nervous.
"Philly, are you okay?" I finally asked him and took his hand. He put his hand through his hair nervously. After a few more minutes of silence he looked into my eyes.
"Dear Theodosia what to say to you? You have Burr's eyes, you have your mother's name. When you came into my life, I cried. You stole my heart" he began. I couldn't control the smile on my face.
"I'm dedicating every day to you. The love we have is totally my style, when you smile, it kills me and I fall apart and I thought I was so smart. You have come of age with our young nation, I'll always fight for you, I'll make it right for you. We will keep a strong enough foundation, I will take care of you. Whenever I see you my girl, you blow me away. I know our parents don't approve but I can't live without you. Will you marry me?"
I stood there completely in shock. I jumped into his arms and crashed my lips against his.
"Yes!" I cried. "Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!" The tears were uncontrollable. He held me there for awhile, then we noticed the sun began to set. Philip laid on the blanket and I snuggled into his chest.
"I can't believe I get to marry you." I whispered. He tightened his grip around me.
"I love you, Theodosia Burr." He smiled.
"I love you too Philip Hamilton."
