Peggy's POV
"Peggy! Let's go!" Angelica called impatiently from downstairs. Why am I always stuck going to these stupid parties with my sisters. They aren't fun to me at all. All my sisters want to do the whole time is flirt with a bunch of men and that is the exact opposite of what I want to be doing.
"Peggy!"
"I'm coming Angelica!" I screamed back, the annoyance clear in my voice. I stomped down the stairs then stood next to my sisters pouting.
"Peggy, I don't see what the big deal is. These parties are fun!" Eliza said skipping happily out the door. I rolled my eyes and followed my sisters out the door, shutting it behind me.
"Why don't you just try to have fun for once?" Angelica asked.
"Your definition of fun is flirting with a bunch of men then seeing if they're rich or not. One, that seems extremely boring and two no man would ever be interested in me."
"You've never tried talking to one!" Eliza replied. That is true but still, I'm not interested. When we reached the party, I immediately wished I was back at home. The three of us walked through the door, and of course my sisters immediately started to go talk to the most "attractive" men they could find. I found an empty table, then sat in a chair with my arms crossed.
After a while, I started getting bored. Both of my sisters were talking to the same guy. Ha, that's not going to go over very well. I chuckled at the thought of Angelica and Eliza fighting over some guy that they just met. A few minutes passed, then I felt a figure sit next to me.
"I hope this seat isn't taken." A strong French accent said.
"Well it is now." I said still turned around.
"I'm Marquis de Lafayette." The man said. I turned around to introduce myself.when I turned, the most handsome man I have ever seen was sitting right next to me.
"I- I'm Peggy Schuyler." Way to stutter Peggy. I mentally smacked myself.
"Beautiful name for a beautiful girl." He smiled. I could feel myself turn red. The two of us sat there for a while talking about our lives. He didn't seem to care that I was apart of a rich family.
"Um Peggy, would you care to dance?" Marquis asked nervously.
"Of course." I replied. We made our way to the large group of people dancing.
"I really didn't want to come here tonight. My friends kinda made me come. I'm so glad I came now." He smiled.
"Honestly, I didn't want to come either. My sisters really just come to talk to men and I know that none of them would be interested in me, so I don't even try. But now I think I was wrong."
"You definitely were. Who wouldn't fall for you?" I blushed again. This man really has a way with words. Before I knew it the party was over.
"Would you like an escort home?" Marquis asked, taking my hand. I nodded excitedly. I met up with Eliza who also had an escort home.
"Eliza this is Marquis de Lafayette."I said introducing him to my older sister.
"Lafayette, I told you that you would get a girl!" The man with Eliza said. Marquis turned red and I gave his hand a squeeze. "By the way, I'm Alexander Hamilton." The man said.
"Peggy Schuyler." I replied. After s few more minutes of talking, the four of us walked out into the cool night air.
"Whatever happened to Angelica?" I asked my sister, breaking the comfortable silence. Eliza gave me an I'll tell you later face and I stifled a giggle. I could feel Marquis looking at me and I didn't mind at all. I think I might have some feelings for this man. When we got to my house Eliza and Alexander went outside while Marquis and I stayed outside.
"I had an amazing night tonight Peggy."he said pulling me close to him.
"Me too." I smiled. The moon reflected in his already beautiful eyes, making it impossible to look away. He slowly leaned into me and kissed me sweetly. The butterflies were going crazy in my stomach.
"Can I come see you tomorrow?" I nodded. We kissed one more time then he and Alexander departed leaving Eliza and I helpless.
