Chapter 5: Awakening

Minako and Yukari keep running as fast as they could to the dormitory rooftop. Yukari closes the iron door behind them and sighs in relief. Minako and Yukari are tired from all the running around.

Yukari: *sigh* The door's lock. I think we're safe for now.

She spoke too soon. The girls hear a loud, unfriendly growl. It is absolutely petrifying. They look towards the direction of the sound and they see something climbing up the wall of the dormitory. In front of them, there is a huge, black, oil-like creature with arms holding sharp swords. One of the hands is holding a blue mask with the roman number 1, possibly the face. It moves towards them with a cringing crawling sound.

Yukari: You gotta be kidding me...! It climbed up the wall...!?

Simultaneously, Minato, Mitsuru and Akihiko reach the command room. The first thing they say to Ikutsuki is "where are they?" Ikutsuki shows them a footage of the roof. They can see what is happening there.

Akihiko: There! They're on the roof!

Mitsuru: That gigantic shadow... Just what is it we're dealing with!?

A lot of thoughts are going through Minato's mind: This is definitely unpleasant. Minako is on the roof, facing a monster. She has a weapon but he is 100% sure that she does not know how to use it. What is he doing? Where is he when she needs him? That's it, he's going to rescue her with or without both of his senpais.

Minato: That's it! I'm going to save them. Let's go, senpai!

Ikutsuki: Wait!

Minato is filled with anger and rage. How could he 'wait' while his sister is in danger? Before he could burn Ikutsuki's face, they see something extraordinary on the roof through the large monitor. It catches Minato's attention and causes him to wait.

On the roof, Yukari tells Minako a piece of information about the creature.

Yukari: That's the thing that attacked this place... We call them Shadows!

Minako: S-Shadows? W-We have to fight them, don't we? I have to admit, I never use a naginata before so how do we fight them?

Yukari: O-Oh yeah... I have to fight... I...I can summon mine, no problem...

Minako: Takeba-san, what are you gonna do?

Yukari did not answer her. She immediately takes the gun from the other day and points it to her glabella, the space between her eyebrows. Minako can hear her breathing heavily. Clearly, she's scared and nervous.

Yukari: Don't worry, Minako-san...Here goes...*pants*

Before she could do anything, the huge shadow summons a fireball at Yukari. The fireball causes her to scream in pain and she is flung to the other side of the roof. She is badly hurt and burnt. In the process, she drops her gun and it slides to Minako's feet. Without hesitation, she takes the gun, points it at her right temple and breathes heavily. She closes her eyes and puts her left hand on her chest. She could feel and hear her heart pounding loudly. The shadow begins to crawl closer to her and she suddenly opens her eyes. A blue aura surrounds her.

Minako: Per...so...na!

With that said, Minako pulls the trigger. Instead of blood coming out from the other side of her head, blue shards are released. Her head titled, showing force is present. Something materializes behind her, twice her size. Its arms and legs are white while the torso is gold. It is wearing a red scarf around its neck, has long, brown hair and carries a giant heart-shaped lyre on its back. The creature begins to speak.
