Twenty Five

I was still seething over Marius when there was a knock at the door two nights later.

Rosà got up from her spot on the sofa and practically bounced to the door before opening to reveal the Mayor. He wore a suit, his chubby cheeks tainted pink when he laid eyes on the female vampire. His gaze then slid past her to me and then lingered on her mate.

"Oh, you've got company, I'm so sorry Ma'am, shall I come back later?"

She giggled and brushed off his comment with the flick of her wrist. "No need, we are all involved minus my..." She trailed off and glanced at Andrew with a love struck expression.

I was far from in the mood to be a third wheel and quickly cleared my throat. "Marius will be here soon, would you like to join us?"

Almost reluctantly the mayor slid his eyes from the beautiful woman in front of him to me who was watching him with a raised eyebrow. Clearly flustered, the mayor patted himself down before entering with the brisk nod of his head.

"I've just come to discuss the dilemma, we need to take action as soon as possible."

Rosá shut the door before floating over to her mate and settling beside him, his hand snaking out to rest on her thigh- the possessive movement didn't go un-noticed by any of us but I resisted the urge to smile, now was not the time to muse over petty love gestures.

"Where is Mr. Black anyway?"

Rosà began to reply when I interpreted her, hands curling into fists as I practically spat. "He's probably balls deep in Noah for all I know, fuck him and his small ass dick anyway!"

For a long moment no one said anything, all eyes on me as irritation searing through me like hot lava. No one said it but from the look the female was giving me I knew jealousy didn't suit me well.

After I had counted down from twenty I finally felt grounded enough to mutter. "I killed the guy stalking me, he wasn't very informative anyway."

"Stalker?"

My gaze flickered to Rosà, "Didn't you tell him about it?"

She shrugged almost apologetically. "Marius said he was going to speak with you Mayor, I assumed that would have come up at some point... Marius was receiving threats from the killer, Payton was being followed and photographed and then Marius was being sent the pictures."

The mayor shook his head. "What would be the point in that? It all seems like a lot of effort to go through just to send threats."

I let my eyes wander to my hands which were resting on my lap, I slowly flexed my fingers and let out a noise before gesturing to the beat up file on the table along with a pay phone. "I found these on my so called stalker, he was ranting on about someone called Master, and I got these off his body."

"Body?"

I dragged my tongue over my aching gums and fangs whilst giving the Mayor a look that spoke volumes. "I killed him. Problem?"

He opened his mouth to reply then shut it again, mimicking that of a fish as even he sensed the hostile attitude I had been carrying around with me for the past few days now. Just thinking about Marius put me in a bad mood and all this drama wasn't helping, it was all his fault anyway!

Andrew shifting on the spot snagged my attention and I turned to find him leaning forward to pluck the file up off the table before opening it. The paper inside was crumbled with the amount of times it had been handled and the ink was faded.

The Mayor fingered the broken phone and let out a noise. "I'll see what I can do with this, I know someone who may be able to get something off it."
