I decided to walk home, through the gloomy, dark and freezing cold night. I shivered under the streetlight while walking on the footpath - Quickly checking every direction so I didn't come into contact with anyone. I started walking a bit faster when I heard humming and every step I took - the humming became louder and louder until eventually somebody grabbed my shoulder. I spun around quickly hopping it wasn't someone I wanted to speak too and noticed a recognizable face.

"Can I help you?" I ask quickly, but making sure my tone sounded confident, the man had blue eyes and brown hair, he was slightly taller than me, and I shrugged noticing his jacket was a 'Down But Not Out' one, and he had jeans, and Nike shoes on. He stared at me "I- I think I know you?" he spoke, looking directly in my eye, then without rolling my eyes, I realized who it was; "You do indeed, Josh" I bit my lip, and shrugged again, his face lit up and eyes widened "Haze-Hazel Grace is that you?" He stumbled backwards and looked shocked, I nodded slowly while he also looked panicked.

*flashback*

Back in 12th grade- the final year of going to college, finally was here, the last day and the day where we can celebrate and not give a damn about our schooling life and education anymore. The day where we won't have to see those messed up people who give you shit for everything you do, those people who pretended to be your friends, when they really weren't those fake bitches who tried to gain your trust and spread shit about you when they failed too; generally for myself this was probably the best time of my life, until I bumped into Joshua Franchesi; who is my best friend which I have been best friends with since we started our 7th grade, hell will I tell you, I can't wait to spend more memories with him.

"Josh! Hey" I screamed and he put his hands over his ears grinning; he picked me up and spun me around in a circle "it's the last day! It's the last day Hazel!" he chanted laughing and grinning at me, I snorted and looked at him "you just realized Josh?" I broke into a laugh and he just shook his head at me "Well of course, I mean I thought we totally had another year, you know?" he looked at me, with serious look and I snorted again "I'm going to miss seeing you every day Josh, promise you'll keep in contact with me with the years in front of us? Even though you're in a band with Dan, Chris, Matt and Max? Hey speaking of them - where are they?" I questioned looking at him "I promise Hazel Grace, you know I won't ever leave you; you're my best friend and I care dearly and love you too much. Those guys have just arrived just now" he grinned pulling his phone out and checking it, then replying quickly - guessing it was probably too Dan since they always text each other, "It's going to suck without seeing you heaps, I'll miss you Josh.." I spoke softly, and he gave me sympathetic smile "I'll try come over every once and again if you do?" he smiled I nodded "Okay," I said and saw Dan running up to Josh then jumping on his back, I grinned and felt someone on my back; "HAZEL WE'RE ON OUR LAST DAY!" someone yelled - it was Jayde and Shelby chanted in the background, I loved these girls with everything I had, hopefully I'd stay friends with all of them I thought to myself and joined in the chanting.

*end of flashback*

I shook my head and stared up at him, how the hell did he end up bumping into me in a completely different city than where we grew up in? was he still in that band, maybe he was touring? I had no clue and I just shook my head and remembered the promise we had to keep in contact, and thought so much for that promise, shaking my head he looked at me "I'm sorry I didn't keep in contact - the band-" I cut him off and spoke up "No Josh, I should have texted you or something, so I'm sorry." I groaned looking at him; this one man which was my best friend; my everything and my whole world, I didn't know what to do, bumping into him at midnight coming back from the hospital where my grandfather had  stroke at ten, but was thankfully okay. I sighed up looked up "Josh, how the hell did you find me?" I asked and he flinched and bit his lip. "Dan saw you at the shops yesterday, and told the rest of the guys and myself, I didn't know how to react but it was weird. I decided to go for a walk, yeah at midnight to clear my head if I'd actually bump into you, hell did I know you were out here this late of night, why are you here exactly, shouldn't you like, be home?" he asked and stared down at me. "My grandfather had a stroke at ten Josh, how the hell did you notice it was me though?" I groaned and he closed his eyes sighing.

We ended up walking down the street back to the hotel he was staying at, he convinced me to stay the night and catch up with the rest of the guys the next day, which I don't understand that he could have just stayed at my house and texted the boys. I agreed though and Josh spoke about his band; how they were on tour now. But he didn't say anything else such as how his family was; his mum, dad and sister. Which was a worry because he always used to speak about his sister, we got back to the hotel and I noticed it was called 'The Plaza' it seemed nice to stay here in London, which was where I had lived since the beginning of this year as it was now August; I noticed the rotating doors we went through to enter, once inside the reception desk was too the right hand side, where a lady was sitting at, she smiled at us and I saw that there was a water fountain in the middle of the room with an elevator and stairs to the right, next to a toilet sign which pointed down the hall, there was a lounging area where of course people waited which had a coffee table and a few magazines and there was a little restaurant type of thing down the right side as well - guessing it was a breakfast thing, we climbed into the elevator and went to the sixth floor and room 20 where Josh unlocked the door, there seemed to be a light on and two double beds and two single beds, guessing it was probably a family room they booked. I looked around the room and noticed all the guys were still awake, I raised an eyebrow as they all looked shocked and stared at me. "Hey guys…" I spoke to break the awkward silence.
